The Westin Gaslamp Quarter Opens New Italian Restaurant, Pinzimini

May 22, 2012

The Westin Gaslamp Quarter has completed the final phase of its $25 million property-wide renovation with the opening of the hotel’s new restaurant and bar, Pinzimini (pronounced “pin-zuh-MEE-nee”).  Only the third Westin hotel to introduce the brand’s new signature restaurant, Starwood Hotels & Resorts will continue to roll-out the concept with two more Pinzimini locations planned to open within the next year.

Located in the heart of the new Westin lobby, Pinzimini San Diego is a contemporary Italian restaurant designed with vibrant modern décor and includes an outdoor patio on First Avenue in the Gaslamp District, making the restaurant easily acessible to local San Diegans.

Executive Chef Joan Kosowski has created a classic menu that showcases signature Tuscan-style entrees, salads, grilled Italian-style sandwiches, pastas, thin-crust pizzas and an extensive menu of small plates – perfect for sharing and ideal for happy hour.  Guests will discover the restaurant’s distinctive bread service – crusty bread dipped in the restaurant’s signature high-quality olive oil infused with sea salt and fresh herbs – a tribute to its namesake pinzimonio.

Apart from being a great dining option, the bar at Pinzimini is the latest gathering place for happy hour in the downtown area for both visitors and locals.  Apart from the 20 seasonal and thoughtfully hand-selected Italian wines, Pinzimini mixologist, Tricia Alley, who has worked alongside famed venues including Providence LA and Black Market Liquor Bar, crafted a unique cocktail menu that offers both traditional and signature libations that pair perfectly with the restaurant’s extensive menu of small plates and appetizers.  A great way to connect with friends or colleagues, happy hour diners can nosh on selection of prosciutto, cured sausages, cheeses and olives paired with a Pear Bellini or the Shrimp Bruschetta and a Blood Orange Martini.

With a dynamic menu, creative cocktails, an extensive wine and beer list, Pinzimini brings an upscale, yet approachable dining experience to the increasingly vibrant downtown San Diego area.  “The Pinzimini menu pulls together a good “best of” list, from the Tuscan Rib Eye Steak to the thin crust pizza Salsiccia.  Order a Zirconia cocktail, and you have the start of a hearty meal or a relaxed happy hour,” said Keri Robinson, general manager of The Westin Gaslamp Quarter.

Pinzimini will be open everyday for breakfast from 6:30am-11:00am, for lunch from 11:00am-1:30pm and for dinner from 5:00pm-11:00pm.  The restaurant’s bar and lounge will be open daily from 11:30am-1:00am.  For reservations, please call (619) 272-5840 or visit www.pinziminisandiego.com.
