San Diego Festival of Beer Announces Partnership with North County Transit District to Offer Special Ticket & Transportation Package

September 18, 2012

The 18th Annual San Diego Festival of Beer -- San Diego’s original beer festival returning to downtown San Diego Friday, Sept. 21 —announced a partnership today with the North County Transit District (NTCD) to offer festival patrons a special combination ticket that includes one beer festival ticket plus a discounted round-trip ticket on the Coaster for $40. The special combo ticket is also valid on the Sprinter and Breeze.

“The Coaster is becoming more well-known as the best way for North County residents to enjoy downtown events without worrying about the drive home,” said Emily Kuhnel, marketing representative for the North County Transit District. “We are pleased to partner with the Festival, provide a safe driving alternative, and help advance the message to fight cancer.”

The Santa Fe Depot stop on the Coaster route is just three blocks from the beer festival, which takes place on Columbia and B Streets (adjacent to the W Hotel).

“We’ve had a lot of North County beer lovers ask about deals with the Coaster over the years,” said Rachel Cano, co-founder of San Diego Professionals Against Cancer, the nonprofit organization that runs the San Diego Festival of Beer.  “We were able to work with NCTD this year to create a special package that will bring North County guests right to our doorstep.  This is a great option for our guests and gives them the peace of mind to get safely to and from our festival.”

Sponsored by 100.7 JACK FM, 2012 San Diego Festival of Beer guests can sample from over 60 different breweries and 120 varieties of some of the nation’s best craft beer, enjoy live music on two stages, purchase food from San Diego food trucks and restaurants – all while raising money for local cancer charities.  Each ticket includes admission into the event, 10 (4 oz) beer tastes and a special souvenir tasting mug for the first 3,000 attendees. Additional tastes may be purchased inside the event for $10 for 10 additional tastings and $5 for five tastings. Regular ticket prices are $35 through August 31 and $40 beginning September 1.
