Downtown San Diego’s favorite Euro-Turkish eatery, the Kebab Shop, announced its plans to open its 5th and 6th locations in Mission Valley and Rancho Bernardo. The two new locations, which will feature The Kebab Shop's casual cuisine with a European influence, are set to open in December 2012.

“Mission Valley and Rancho Bernardo residents have been asking us to open the Kebab Shop in their locations for more than two years,” said Tony Farmand, a Holland native and co-owner of The Kebab Shop. “Our combination of only the freshest and most authentic ingredients is what locals love and crave."

The Kebab Shop, awarded San Diego Magazine's Best Cheap Eats restaurant earlier this year, serves an array of healthy and authentic options. Döner kebabs, originally from Turkey, are offered in spiced lamb, marinated chicken or falafel with a mix of fresh vegetables, a creamy garlic yogurt sauce and homemade spicy sauce.

Flavorful Shawarma sandwiches on soft, fluffy rolls, shish kebab plates, rotisserie plates, Iskender kebab (rarely found in the U.S.), Saffron rice and a selection of fresh salads including the Bebe Caprese salad, Tabouli, and Algerian Eggplant salad complete the extensive menu.
When asked what can people expect with the opening of the new locations, Farmand added, “Customers can expect the same great atmosphere that is present in all of the locations; it’s The Kebab Shop way. Plus, there's no other place offering the hard-to-find kebabs and shawarma sandwiches we do.”

The Mission Valley eatery will be located at 1570 Camino De La Reina, #C, and the Rancho Bernardo eatery will be located at 11980 Bernardo Plaza Dr.  Both locations will be open daily, Monday-Saturday (11 a.m. – 10 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m. – 9 p.m.).

A.J. Akbar and Tony Farmand took over the successful eatery in San Diego’s East Village in 2008. Since then, Akbar and Farmand have opened three more locations in Mira Mesa, Encinitas and Little Italy.  The Kebab Shop menu consists of the freshest ingredients to create delectable Turkish Döner kebabs, shawarma plates, fresh salads and sides including hot French Fries and Saffron rice.
