Wine & Dine on San Diego's Big Bay at the VinDiego Wine & Food Festival | Saturday, April 6th

March 26, 2013

Possibly one of the best combinations imaginable is great food and wine in a setting surrounded by close friends and beautiful scenery.  The VinDiego Wine & Food Festival is a new event that encapsulates that concept and is coming to the Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego on Saturday, April 6th. The event will feature award-winning wines, gourmet food from some of San Diego’s most notable restaurants, classes with vintners and a charitable silent auction in a beautiful seaside setting at the picturesque Port Pavilion on the Broadway Pier.

The concept behind VinDiego was to create an event that focuses on sharing a passion for wine between wine enthusiasts. It’s about being able to relax, explore new tastes and do so without feeling rushed. Thus, as far as alcohol goes, VinDiego will only offer wine, so that guests have the opportunity to visit numerous booths at the event while getting to know the wine vendors.

"We are thrilled to bring a truly, wine-only event to San Diego. VinDiego distinguishes itself by focusing on California-grown, award winning wines," said VinDiego producer David Fraschetti.

There will be 200 wines to try from some of the best wineries in California. In addition, some of San Diego’s notable local restaurants will offer a variety of gourmet appetizers, cheeses and olive oils, including taste offerings from Royal India, Flagship Cruises, the private chef from Hahn Family Wines, and more to be revealed as the event draws near.

Five of the top rated wines at the festival will be highlighted in different seminars at the event. Those that attend the seminars will be able to taste and learn about the different characteristics of these consistently highly rated wines.

A silent auction will take place with proceeds benefitting the nonprofit Freedom Station.  Auction items include collectible wines, big bottle private tasting parties, vacation packages, VIP tours of wineries, and other wine-related items for the wine and food enthusiast.

Tickets for VinDiego are $85 for general admission and $95 for VIP and can be purchased online at  www.vindiego.com/tickets. The event starts at 4pm for VIP and 5pm for GA.  The VinDiego website also displays a list of the wineries that will be pouring at the event, as well as more information on their charity and silent auction.
