Suzie’s Farm Hosts First Annual “Dia De Los Muertos” Celebration | November 2

October 5, 2013

Suzie’s Farm is thrilled to welcome the San Diego community to the inaugural Dia De Los Muertos celebration at its new outdoor event space, The Grove. Guests will exalt the endless cycle of life and death at the family-friendly event featuring traditional Mexican food prepared by acclaimed local chefs, holiday inspired artwork by local artists, craft cocktails and live entertainment. On Saturday, November 2 from 6-10pm, participants will gather at the beautiful 2-acre outdoor event facility for a fun celebration of the Day of the Dead.

An embellished altar will provide a place for guests to commemorate their precious loved ones. Dia De Los Muertos, or Day Of The Dead, is widely celebrated throughout Mexico and the world, as a time to remember those who have passed. The Grove is framed by eucalyptus trees and landscaped gardens, a perfect setting where guests can honor their loved ones at an elaborate alter constructed especially for the event with their own symbolic items including, photographs, flowers, toys, and food.

Working with Chef Flor Franco of Indulge Contemporary Catering, Suzie’s Farm has lined up some of Baja’s and San Diego’s most revered culinary talents, including Javier Plascensia of Tijuana’s Mision 19, Isabel Cruz of San Diego’s Barrio Star and Isabel's Cantina, Chef & Culinary Stylist Andrew Spurgin, and many more. The menu will feature tastings inspired by traditional Mexican dishes including mole, sopes, chile rellenos, and more. Craft cocktails and beverages will be available and provided by Alchemy Cultural Fare. Live music, provided by Jazz 88.3’s Latin Grooves, will complete the cheerful atmosphere.

“We love inviting the public to visit our farm and to see our beautiful new outdoor space, The Grove,” says co-owner Lucila de Alejandro. “This event allows us to collaborate with our farm-ily from both sides of the border and to celebrate San Diego’s rich Mexican culture.”

Tickets for both children and adults are available online at the cost of $75 for an adult, which includes unlimited tastes and 2 drink tickets, $55 for adults, not including drinks, and $25 for children 12 and under. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Kitchen Commandos - a program dedicated to providing families with the necessary tools to change their eating habits, and the Front Burner Fund - a non-profit organization that raises funds to supplement the health costs and emergency medical needs for ‘back of house’ restaurant staff.

Suzie’s Farm is located at 2570 Sunset Avenue, San Diego, CA 92154.  For more information about this event or Suzie’s Farm, please visit suziesfarm.com, and follow on Facebook and Twitter.
