Single Fin Surf Grill Takes Over Former Sneak Joint location in Mission Beach | New Eatery to Open in April Will Serve Daily Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

March 26, 2014

Sneak Joint left the space a mess after the owners inexplicably vanished on their employees and creditors back in December 2012, but fortunately, the space at 3844 Mission Boulevard has been taken over and completely renovated for the opening of Single Fin Surf Grill, a surf-themed, modern bar and restaurant set to open this April in Mission Beach.

The location still offers its coveted outdoor patio seating, but everything else has been redesigned using local flare and repurposed materials. The sand encased in the bar is from various areas, including neighboring Mission Beach. Salvaged wood from an abandoned barge can be found throughout the space, and old surf board fins and molds from an Encinitas-based manufacturer artfully decorate the space in accord with the theme.

Chef Jow Malayawetch is currently finalizing a menu for Single Fin Surf Grill, which will include options for the eatery's daily breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Expect normal breakfast items, fresh fish taco options, burgers and fun sides. An especially attractive attribute of Single Fin is that one of the co-owners works on a fishing boat and will take a photo of his catch of the day which Chef Jow will then use to create a unique dish using that protein for the daily special.
