Father’s Day is just a few days away… Dad. Daddy. Pops. Poppa. No matter what you call him, he’s the man in your life being celebrated this Sunday, June 15.  But what are you going to get him? Where are you going to take him? You’ve given him ties since the diaper days and he has too many golf balls to count. This year, check out these SanDiegoVille's round up of local gift ideas and restaurant and hotel specials that any dad will love.


With Father’s Day just around the corner, what better way to celebrate Dad than with an awesome gift, a delicious meal, some San Diego craft beer or a special offering from one of San Diego’s hottest spots? From Presidential treatments and classic burger pairings to beer-infused dining specials and great gift ideas, there is something sure to please the most discerning dad. We've pulled together a few San Diego's offerings that show Dad just how special he really is.

Is your dad the ultimate grill master? This Father’s Day, ramp up dad’s barbecuing repertoire with bottled barbecue sauces from Brazen BBQ. From the rich and bold-tasting B.R.A.G. to the sweeter Smokey Lace and the extra spicy Barn Burner, there’s a flavor to please his palate. For just $8 a bottle, stock him with sauce for the rest of the year.

Make it a brewtiful Father’ Day this year and stop by La Jolla Brewing Company (LJBC) for a $22 growler of in-house brewed beers like Sunny Jimmy’s IPA and the Bird Rock Brown. For dads that take their beers seriously, sign them up for LJBC’s Beer Club. For $25, dad will receive a year membership that includes Happy Hour pricing on house brews, ½ off growler refills and flights, discounted beer pairing dinners and priority access to new beer releases.

Start a new tradition with padre with the help of Brew Master Vincent Falcone at Pacific Beach Alehouse. For just $13, pick up a growler this Father’s Day filled with a PB AleHouse in-house brewed beer. Throughout the year, refill the growler for his birthday and holidays with more PB Alehouse favorites and seasonal brews.

What dad doesn’t love a good Bloody Mary?  And one that’s free, made with local ingredients and to top it all off… bottomless.  At Sessions Public, they’re launching their Bloody Mary Bar this Father’s Day.  They’ll be using Ballast Point’s Bloody Mary Mix and Fugu Vodka.  Dads can make Bloody Marys to their liking with a variety of house made pickled vegetables and seasonings.  The Bloody Mary Bar will be complimentary for dads on Father’s Day with the purchase of an entree and $15 for anyone else who joins dad in the celebration.  The Bloody Mary bar is the perfect complement to the Ocean Beach/Point Loma area restaurant’s signature brunch items that include Biscuits and Gravy and the Vegetarian Frittata.  Brunch is served from 10am-3pm.

At Waters Fine Catering, leave all the work to their talented team and enjoy a home cooked “Southern Style Meal” without having to bother with the preparation and clean-up. A special Father’s Day menu is available for pick-up at either their Morena Blvd. or Solana Beach locations.  Highlights include All Natural Babyback Pork Ribs, Sunday Style Fried Chicken, “Nicoise” Potato Salad and for dessert… Texas Sheet Cake.

Beaumont's Eatery is the perfect place to kick off an upbeat Father's Day with a boozy brunch and acoustic live music. Executive Chef George Morris will offer two specials in honor of dad's special day, including a Steak n' Eggs Sandwich with fried egg, shaved rib-eye, cambazola cheese, smoked Fresno chiles, butter lettuce and red onion, and a Surf n' Turf Omelet with lump crab, prosciutto, brie and melted tomatoes. These specials will be served in addition to the restaurant's new brunch menu, which includes items such as Sous Chef Tommy Fraioli's "Tommy's Toast" with blueberry brioche bread pudding, banana, hazelnuts, lemon curd and whipped cream or a San Diego classic Carne Asada Burrito. Also new to brunch are a slew of new cocktails by Bar Manager Gavin McManes, including a Monk Juice, EZSunday and seasonal Weekend Punch, as well as several mocktail options for the kids.

For the dad who can't get enough of Italian cuisine, BiCE San Diego offers a skillful mix of traditional and contemporary Italian dishes prepared with the best seasonal ingredients. The BiCE menu includes both classic and trend-driven Italian dishes, with standouts including homemade pastas, unique meat and seafood dishes and decadent desserts. BiCE will offer 15% off their impressive collection of Italian and Californian wines.

This Father’s Day, treat dad to a wonderful day of delicious food and spectacular La Jolla Cove views at Brockton Villa restaurant. Executive Chef Mareyja Sisbarro will serve a hardy list of brunch specials including Duck Hash 'n' Eggs, a Lobster & Crab Omelette and an indulgent Mint Chocolate Chip Pancakes. If dad is not a morning person, he can enjoy breakfast-inspired Father's Day specials later in the day, such as the Burger and a Beer lunch special, including a half-pound Angus beef burger, applewood smoked bacon, hash browns, egg over easy, cheddar and hollandaise sauce. Breakfast will be served until 3pm and lunch will begin at noon.

Located in the famed coastal community of La Jolla, Herringbone will be offering a two-course prix fixe menu for $30 or $40 which includes bottomless man-mosas.  Dads will have the choice of everything from raspberry brioche donuts, corn chowder, chilaquiles and eggs, lobster roll, short rib hash, albacore burger and more. A special Father’s Day Kid’s menu will also be available for $12 which includes everything from a grilled cheese, “The #1” which features bacon, eggs, toast and potatoes, a brioche french toast or fruit and granola.

Located in the heart of downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, Searsucker is raising a glass to all dads this Father’s Day by offering a beer-braised bratwurst Benedict special with black pepper biscuits, sautéed peppers finished with an onion and mustard hollandaise.  They will also be offering The Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness cocktail ($12) that is made with house infused blackberry peach bourbon, muddled peach, drambuie and pressed lemon.

Located in the heart of Southern California's wine country, Temecula Creek Inn is situated on a sprawling 21-hole golf course. A perfect escape this Father's Day, the property is offering dad's the opportunity to celebrate by hitting the links at one of Southern California's most exciting courses and indulging at the on-property restaurant, Cork Fire Kitchen. The restaurant, known for barrel-aging some of the region's most exciting whiskies will celebrate Father's Day in style with a whiskey pairing menu. Aged in-house, the whiskies are a departure from standard top-shelf offerings. With small casks made out of a variety of woods, the barrels allow for an optimal whiskey-tasting experience. The Father's Day Bunkers & Barrels special at Temecula Creek Inn is available Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15 at rates starting from $379 and includes guest room accommodations for 2, whiskey tastings with bites in Cork Fire Kitchen for 2 and a round of golf for 2.

Keep it simple this Father's Day and treat Dad to a meal you know he'll enjoy. The Commons Bar will be serving up their signature Commons Burger, a half pound Angus beef patty topped with the all the fixins', paired with one of their draft beers. The perfect meal for any father outing.

Located in the seaside community of Pacific Beach, The Patio on Lamont is treating dads to an extra special pairing all weekend long. Dads can indulge in a Milk Braised Pork Cheek, with caramelized onion sweet potato mash, charred green beans and a candied bacon vinaigrette. Each dish is perfectly paired with Benchmark Brewing Company’s Oatmeal Stout, a rich, creamy malt with a hint of smokiness. Finally, for each table dining on Father’s Day, The Patio on Lamont will donate $1 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

There will also be live music from Kevin Begin. With two locations on Coronado, Village Pizzeria is offering an entree or a small pizza with 3 toppings plus a beer for Dad for $15. Lil' Piggy's Bar-B-Q is featuring Lil' Market Combo (choice of two meats with two sides and bread) and a 12oz craft beer for just $20 for Dad.

Offering the most spectacular views in San Diego, Bertrand at Mister A’s iconic rooftop deck is the ideal setting for the ultimate dining experience this Father’s Day.  For Dads who enjoy breakfast, an a la carte brunch and classic morning cocktails including their famous Bloody Marys will be served between 10am and 2pm.  Mister A’s will reopen for dinner at 5:30pm, serving their most popular evening entrées.

Davanti Enoteca’s location in Little Italy will celebrate Dad the right way.  They have prepared a special rib-eye dish to honor Dad that will be served with smashed fingerling potatoes and accompanied with swiss chard and gorgonzola butter, all of which can be enjoyed on their rustic patio centered by their lush olive tree.

Treat dad to a cold one this Father’s Day with a special tasting from Stone Brewery at the iconic Westgate Hotel’s Le Fontainebleau Room. The downtown favorite will pair beloved local brews with their award-winning brunch on June 15th for a day featuring live music, fresh seafood and several gourmet

On June 15, Betty's Pie Whole Saloon, a pie wrangling western saloon in Encinitas, is serving up a hearty Man Munch menu that will leave dad satisfied all day long. Served from 11am to 4pm, the menu will feature a selection of western inspired savory pies, followed by sweet mini-pies and other manly treats. Favorites include Mancakes, a corn pancake with jalapeño and Mexican cheese; Grand Daddy’s Chicken Pie, tender chicken breast, peas, carrots and zucchini baked in a herbed butter pastry; Chili Fry Pie, a chicken chipotle chili pie served with thick potato fries and a cheddar biscuit; and a Whiskey Pecan Pie. The menu will also features a section "For Them Grass Eater Folks" which includes vegetarian pie options, and a "For the Lil’ Cowboys and Cowgirls" kids menu.

Cologne is always a popular Father's Day gift for dads. This year show Dad how special he really is with a custom designed cologne of his own. Chef Matt Gordon is giving dad's two tasty reasons to celebrate this Father's Day. On June 15, each of Chef Gordon's three restaurants - Sea & Smoke in Del Mar, Urban Solace in North Park and Solace and the Moonlight Lounge in Encinitas - will be offering an all day long Prime Rib special, prepared with a classic Bernaise sauce and served with horseradish mashed potatoes. Dad's will also receive a special treat of house-made chocolate covered bacon, made with Hill Farms natural bacon from Pendleton, Oregon that is crisped and then dipped in Guittard chocolate from San Francisco. The restaurants will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
