Strangers Unite Over Farm Fresh Produce at The Wine Pub | 4-Course Organic Dinner on Saturday, October 11

October 6, 2014

The farm-to-table trend has foodies buzzing. Now, Point Loma’s favorite wine bar invites folks to discover organic produce gone gourmet at its Community Dinner on Saturday, October 11, from 6-8 pm. For this dinner, The Wine Pub will collaborate with Farm Fresh To You, an organic produce delivery service in California, to present seasonal foods paired with wine. Thirty people will join an organic produce expert and Chef Malissa Sorsby, who will guide guests through the farm-to-table process emphasizing the importance of taste, nutrition, quality, freshness and sustainability.

The four-course menu features local, seasonal produce, prepared and presented exclusively for attendees by Chef Sorsby, including:

Soup: Roasted butternut squash with cinnamon crème fraiche, paired with Bele Casel Prosecco
Salad: Spinach with pear, walnut and pecan brittle, fresh chevre goat cheese, pomegranate seeds and a blackberry balsamic vinaigrette, paired with Riff Pinot Grigio
Entrée: Apple and sage stuffed pork tenderloin with maple Dijon roasted fingerling potatoes, wilted kale and chard salad, paired with Pali Pinot Noir
Dessert: Baked cinnamon apple tarts with fresh whipped cream, paired with Warre’s Otima Port

Each guest will leave with new friends, a full belly and a take-home care package that includes fresh produce, ingredient samples, recipes and wine pairing information to replicate the community dinner at home.

“None of us are strangers in Point Loma - just friends who haven’t met yet,” says The Wine Pub Owner Sandy Hanshaw. “The Wine Pub believes in sustainability and the value of a close community, two key ingredients in our Community Dinner this October.”

People interested in attending October’s Community Dinner at The Wine Pub can register online for $49 for the evening affair and add an optional $15 wine flight pairing. Space is limited, so purchase a ticket today.
