The Duck Dive GM and Bartender Rob McShea Brings Home Top Bloody Mary Honors

November 4, 2014

Pacific Beach is now home to one of the nation's best Bloody Marys according to the Food Network. The Duck Dive’s general manager and bartender Rob McShea’s recipe earned top honors at this year’s NYC Wine and Food Festival's CHOPPED Bloody Mary Contest and now the cocktail has come home to The Duck Dive, earning a rightful spot on the restaurant’s new brunch menu, launching this Sunday. If you cannot wait that long, you’re in luck as The Duck Dive will offer the winning not-so-Bloody Mary at 5pm today as their special “Farm to Dive” cocktail using produce obtained from the PB Tuesday Farmers Market.

McShea won at the statewide level and then advanced through the Food Network’s nationwide competition with his behemoth bloody concoction called the “Jamaican Me Crazy.” Overall, Rob’s cocktail placed 2nd in the country. Made with Absolut Citron, yellow heirloom tomato puree, “Bloody Jerk” mix, agave nectar, a squeeze of lemon, two jerk rubbed prawns and a grilled mango chip as garnish, this bloody puts a tropical spin on the traditional hangover cure.
