Grotto Climbing & Yoga is San Diego’s newest indoor climbing and yoga facility, grand opening yesterday at 4460 Alvarado Canyon Road in Mission Valley. Grotto aims to inspire all levels of climbers and fitness enthusiasts to thrive in a modern and unique environment and features climbing and yoga to reinforce a mind-body connection through similar types of movement, as the integration of both practices are known to promote balance, increases core strength, calms the mind and stretch the body for greater range of movement and flow.
Conceived by Matt Martinez and Bryan Baez, two avid climbers with more than 32 years of combined climbing experience, the 9,000 square foot Grotto facility features a state-of-the-art bouldering terrain, designated yoga space, luxury amenities and diverse class offerings for all levels. The Grotto Climbing & Yoga approach combines modern ingenuity with genuine connection and a love for adventure sports in order to build and support an active community of members that share a commitment to educating and inspiring one another through indoor climbing and yoga.
In addition to in-studio instruction and practice, Grotto plans to launch monthly climbing and yoga retreats for members, celebrating San Diego’s natural beauty and cultivating a love for the great outdoors. Whether you’re a high-energy climber, mellow yogi or a beginner level enthusiast looking to try something new, the Grotto schedule offers something for everyone. All of Grotto’s classes and workshops, taught by experienced climbers and specialized yoga instructors, are available for drop-in sessions or at a discounted rate for members.
