Del Mar Closes Out Bing Crosby Season With Festive Events

November 10, 2015

The closing weekend of Del Mar’s Bing Crosby Season is almost upon us. Next weekend, the seaside oval welcomes guests to give thanks on Thursday, November 26, with a Family One-Mile Fun Run and Thanksgiving Brunch. Then on Saturday, November 28, fans can enjoy Del Mar’s Fall Beer and Cider Festival along with a free concert by Sublime with Rome.

For those looking to liven-up their Thanksgiving traditions, Del Mar is hosting family friendly activities, scrumptious foodie events and a free concert by SoCal reggae legends Sublime with Rome throughout the holiday weekend. The race day starts early on Thanksgiving with an 11am post time.

On Thursday, November 26, start your Thanksgiving Day with the track as Del Mar hosts its second annual Family One-Mile Fun Run. Participants will break from the starting gate at 8am and can walk, jog, or sprint around the one-mile dirt track in the footsteps of Thoroughbred with several Del Mar jockeys jogging alongside. Proceeds from the race go towards benefitting the Helen Woodward Animal Center, which also will be at the track hosting a puppy adoption event. Additionally, there will be a puppy race, children activities and holiday craft stations.

Then, later on Thanksgiving Day, grab your closest friends and family and gather at the track to sit back and leave the cooking to the chefs by planning your Thanksgiving get-together with a trackside view. Del Mar Racetrack is offering a Thanksgiving Brunch package that includes a Turf Club table with a delicious three-course meal and all the trimmings paired with diner's choice of bottomless mimosas or Chandon.

On Friday, November 27, your holiday shopping is covered as Del Mar hosts its first ever Black and Gold Friday where anyone 18 and up who comes through the turnstiles can enter to win one of five $1,000 Westfield gift cards, funded by American Express! The $1,000 gift cards will be drawn in between races throughout the day.

Then on Saturday, November 28, visitors can sample 100 top San Diego craft brews, special seasonal beers and a variety of ciders during the Del Mar’s Beer & Cider Festival held in the seaside concert area west of the Grandstand. Starting at noon, receive five 7 ounce tastings for $20. Full-sized beers may also be purchased. Admission into the Beer Fest area is free with track admission. Once you’ve had your fill of craft brews, stay after the races to catch a free concert by Sublime with Rome, who will be playing their new hit single “Wherever You Go” along with classics like “What I Got” and “Wrong Way.”

Also on Saturday, November 28, those with mustaches will receive free Racetrack admission to honor Movember’s quest to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues. Win and place at San Diego’s official Movember Gala Parté 2015 at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. The annual mustache-themed costume contest takes place during the races on Saturday, November 28.

On the last day of the 2015 Bing Crosby Season, Sunday, November 29, one of San Diego's most celebrated chefs, Brian Malarkey will bring his talents trackside for the last Bing+Bubbles+Brunch of the season, which includes a delectable rotating three-course menu, Turf Club table for the day and bottomless mimosas or Chandon. Reservations and dress code required.
