Bushfire Kitchen To Open New Location At Beachside Del Mar This Summer

March 19, 2016

This summer Beachside Del Mar, the renovated shopping center formerly called Del Mar Heights Village, will welcome the third outpost of Bushfire Kitchen - a Southern California eatery focused on providing fresh, affordable and organic meals, inspired by world travels and an appetite for healthy eats.

“We are excited to expand our presence to Beachside Del Mar,” said Clive Barwin, co-owner of Bushfire Kitchen. “Our food focuses on providing healthy, sustainable meals at a family-friendly price point, and Beachside Del Mar is an obvious choice for our third location.”

Clive, along with his cousin-turned-business partner Brandon Barwin, have lived in San Diego for almost a decade, opening the successful Bushfire Grill in Temecula in 2012 and sister restaurant Bushfire Kitchen in La Costa last year. The Barwins were born and raised in South Africa, and have spent time traveling around the world. The inspiration behind the Bushfire restaurants was the desire to serve healthy, comfort food at an affordable price, or as Clive puts it, “food made the same way our grandparents made it 50 years ago.”

Every Bushfire Kitchen menu item is made from scratch, including the breads and sauces, and is prepared from locally sourced, organic and non-GMO ingredients. The menu includes Mary’s free-range chicken, braised lamb curry, baby back ribs, burgers and seafood, delicious salads, vegetables and much more. Everything except the bread and the mac and cheese is gluten free. Twelve local beers will be available on tap, and the restaurant will offer eight California wines.

“Bushfire Kitchen is a great addition to Beachside Del Mar,” said Russ Monroe, Property Manager for the shopping center owned by Donahue Schriber. “Our customers are continually looking for ways to enjoy delicious, healthy meals and Bushfire’s emphasis on combining high-quality ingredients, flavor and convenience will be a hit.”

Slated for a late July opening, the Beachside location will be the first Bushfire restaurant to serve breakfast in addition to lunch and dinner, with operating hours planned for 7am to 10pm. The restaurant will offer take-out and dine-in service with tableside ordering for parties of five or more.

Located west of Interstate 5 at 2690 Del Mar Heights Road near Mango Drive, Beachside Del Mar recently completed a $5 million renovation that created an attractive and inviting village atmosphere for local residents to shop, dine and work. Quality shopping, dining and gathering amenities were enhanced at Beachside Del Mar without increasing the center’s size or layout.
