It's (nearly) summertime, and the livin's easy! Fight the June Gloom and get yourself to one of the many fun & delicious events taking place throughout the month. From Scotch tastings, to a Beer & Sake Festival, a Brew & Food Fest, the opening of the San Diego County Fair, and so much more, fill your schedule and usher in summer with one of the many events taking place this June!

We frequently tell potential visitors that June is one of the worst weather months in San Diego, but that doesn't have to keep us from enjoying all that America's Finest City has to offer. June 2, Macallan Scotch Dinner at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa - Enjoy the ultimate, intimate nightcap under the stars with Macallan Scotch at Estancia La Jolla Hotel. The iconic brand’s whisky masters will lead a journey through a four-course pairing menu of their finest single malts, served neat, along with a dinner of scallops, venison & pork belly as live music fills the evening air. June 2, Sip the City at The Headquarters - Get a taste of what the San Diego Urban Winery scene has to offer at the 2nd Annual Sip the City event at The Headquarters at Seaport during San Diego Urban Wine Week. This kick off event will take place in the beautiful Headquarters outdoor courtyard. Not only will you get to sip the award-winning wines of many of San Diego's unique urban wineries, but there will also be great food and live entertainment. Tickets are $20 per person.

June 3, 14th Annual Beer & Sake Festival - The Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana will take over Harrah’s Resort Southern California for an evening featuring local restaurants serving sumptuous treats along with area breweries pouring delicious beer, shochu and sake. Enjoy special cultural entertainment including the dynamic San Diego Taiko drum troupe, a whole tuna cutting for sashimi, a cosplay competion, as well as art booths, a silent auction and a raffle drawing. June 3, San Diego County Fair Opening Day - The San Diego County Fair returns to Del Mar Racetrack & Fair Grounds with its 2016 Mad About the Fair theme. This year's San Diego Fair also includes a whole host of concerts and special events, so be sure to check the site and plan a memorable trip. 

June 3, Craft Beer + Bites Downtown Edition - SILO in Makers Quarter is hosting the 6th Craft Beer + Bites in collaboration with the Downtown San Diego Partnership and the San Diego State University College of Extended Studies Business of Craft Beer Program, benefiting the San Diego Brewers Guild. Enjoy craft beer from 20 local breweries in a custom tasting glass along with grub from some of San Diego’s best food trucks (food sold separately). Stop by and play a few games of giant Jenga, bean-bag toss and giant beer pong. June 3-5, San Diego Rock 'N' Roll Marathon - Rock the streets where it all began. The Suja San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & 1/2 Marathon return for its 19th year on the weekend of June 3-5. Run through historic neighborhoods including Balboa Park and Old Town. June 3-5, FilmOut San Diego’s 18th Annual LGBT Film Festival - Taking place at the historic Observatory North Park Theatre, thirty-seven films will be screened during the three-day film festival including twenty-two premieres along with award-winning films from both Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals, along with independent features and a variety of short films. Q&A’s will follow many films with both director and actors in attendance. Tickets range in prices for each film and event. 

June 4, 2nd Annual San Diego Brew & Food Festival - The Brew & Food Festival is coming back to America's Finest City for a second round of craft beer and culinary collisions, taking at the beautiful Waterfront Park in downtown San Diego. June 4, Krisp Pizza Launch Party - Krisp Beverages + Natural Foods in downtown San Diego recently unveiled a pizza counter and to celebrate, they are hosting this party at the Alexander Salazar Art Gallery at 1040 Seventh Avenue starting at 5pm. June 5, 2nd Annual Solare "Heart of Spring" Dinner - Liberty Station's Solare Restaurant is having a hyper-local “Heart of Spring” feast to celebrate the flavors and tastes of Spring in San Diego. June 5, Culinary Fight Club San Diego California Burger Edition - Five cooks will battle it out at Sushi On A Roll in National City for a chance to go to the 2016 World Food Championship. They will each get 45 seconds in the pantry and 60 minutes to create an amazing burger and in addition to a judges choice, ticket holders also get a chance to try each burger and vote on who did it best. Tasting tickets are $40 per person.

June 7, Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits Barrel Aged Beer & Cigar Pairing - Ballast Point Brewing and Spirits in Miramar will welcome Southern Draw Cigars to invite guests for the opportunity to try an assortment of barrel aged beers paired with custom blended cigars that are hand crafted from only the fine and aged Cuban seed. June 8, Cigars, Chocolate & Mead Pairing Event at Golden Coast Mead - Head to Golden Coast Mead in Oceanside and enjoy a unique pairing event with So Rich Chocolates, and Southern Draw Cigars. Guest will get a chance to introduce their taste buds to a cascade of complex flavors and profiles as they taste artisan chocolates and meads and experience a hand crafted cigar while learning the intricacies of  mead-, chocolate-, and cigar-making. June 8, Smoke + R&D Beer Dinner at Ballast Point Little Italy - Little Italy's Ballast Point Tasting room will break out some of its own, onsite brewed beers and combine them with smokey dishes. The dinner will begin with an amuse, followed by 5 paired courses, all for only $65 per person. 

June 9, Chef Throwdown - Hotel del Coronado will host an unforgettable gourmet tasting event on their expansive, oceanfront Windsor Lawn on Thursday, June 9. Benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Chef Throwdown will treat guests to a culinary feast where 30 of San Diego and Baja’s best chefs will present tasting portions of signature dishes and desserts from stations set around the historic property, while local wineries and breweries pair their favorite libations with the culinary creations. There will also be live entertainment, as well as both a live and silent auction. Tickets are $150.

June 10-12, San Diego Greek Festival - Enjoy delicious Greek food, imported wine and beer, live Greek music and dancing, and more at this free-to-attend festival (a $3 donation is requested). Hosted by the St. Spyridon Community, this event will include tons of Greek specialties, including dolmathes, moussaka, spanakopita, gyros, souvlaki, baklava and so much more, as well as a wine and beer garden with imported Greek specialties.

June 11, Margarita Month Grand Tasting - You know what they say - life should be taken with a grain of salt, a slice of lime, and a healthy dose of tequila. During May, 30 bars and restaurants across America's Finest City were competing to see who makes San Diego’s best margarita by offering up their signature concoctions at a discount all month long. Margarita Month culminates in this Margarita Month Grand Tasting party on Saturday, June 11, where attendees will get the chance to taste samples of every cocktail. June 11, Tacos, Tequila & Beer Festival - On Saturday, June 11, from 2-5pm, the inaugural San Diego Tacos, Tequila & Beer Festival will invite guests to the ultimate fiesta at Silo in Makers Quarter, celebrating the best tacos, tequila and beer in San Diego. June 11, Sweet Petite Confections “Summer Berries” Chocolate Class - The artisan chocolate shop Sweet Petite Confections will celebrate the first of its upcoming trio of summer-themed chocolate-making classes. With June being the height of strawberry season, Sweet Petite Confections will invite guests to make molded chocolates with sweet fillers including strawberry ganache and brambleberry caramel, plus use strawberries, raspberries and blueberries in inventive chocolate barks. Sweet Petite Confections’ chocolate making classes are priced at $35 per adult or parent-child team (children between 5 and 17 years with one adult). Students leave with approximately 1.5 pounds of their own custom creations including molded chocolates and bark.

June 11 (or June 18), Basic Winemaking from Grapes Seminars at Curds and Wine - Head to Curds and Wine for a two-part seminar series introducing participants to wine making using fresh grapes. In these seminars, teachers will lead the class through preparation for harvest, steps involved in making wine from fresh grapes, and finishing wine. They will also demonstrate how to use equipment needed for winemaking. The series of classes is $75/person for a series of 2 classes.

June 11, Council Brewing's Second Anniversary Celebration - Council Brewing is celebrating its 2nd Anniversary of brewing and serving beer here in America's Finest City. The brewery will be taking over its front parking lot for an outdoor festival and a special line up of beers just for the anniversary, including over 15 barrel aged beers, Beatitude Tart Saisons, Anniversary Bully Drop IIIPA, and the 2nd Anniversary Barrel Aged Bottle Release, the Anniversary Flanders Red (aged for two years in red wine barrels). In addition to the barrel aged beers that will be on tap upon entry, Council will be tapping several more at specific times throughout the day. Two food trucks will be on site offering dishes for purchase - Taco Mezcal and Caliano Pizza. Access to the event is $18 for General Admission and $49 for the VIP Session.

June, 11 - Societe Brewing's Four Year Anniversary -  Join Societe Brewing in celebrating their 4 year anniversary with the First Quadrennial Brewers' Games! Societe has invited some of their dearest brewing friends from far and wide to join them for a day of physical and mental challenges. Come prepared to witness feats of incredible strength, dexterity, and foolishness, all while enjoying Societe's amazingly delicious beer. The games will be held in their Tasting Room and parking lot from 12-6pm. The $12 ticket includes full in/out privileges all day, a gilded, .5L Fourth Anniversary glass and the first beer of your choice.

June 11, Liberty Station Summer Block Party - Liberty Station is welcoming summer with an inaugural block party celebration to showcase all the historic naval-base-turned-neighborhood has to offer. Don't miss the Liberty Station Summer Block Party on Saturday, June 11, from 6-9pm. Friends and neighbors are invited this walkabout-style event to sample the newly opened eateries, dance along to live entertainment, partake in some family-friendly activities, stretch at a free outdoor yoga class, and discover all that San Diego’s latest neighborhood destination has to offer. This event is free to attend. 

June 11 & 12, San Diego Festival of the Arts - Artists and aficionados from around the world will converge on America's Finest City when the rebranded San Diego Festival of the Arts takes over downtown's Waterfront Park for a weekend of all-things-art. In addition to art displays, guests at the 2016 event will enjoy live music and entertainment, a craft beer garden and bites from San Diego’s top restaurants. June 12, Sunday Smokeout with The Bruery at Brothers Provisions - Brothers Provisions will open up their patio for a very special beer, food and cigar pairing. Admission includes an E.P. Carillo La Historia cigar, customized tumbler glass, six 4-oz tasters and house-smoked spare ribs. The Beer includes Chronology 6.2, White Mocha, Share This, Melange No. 3 2013, Melange No. 12 2015, Grey Monday 2015. The Food offering include house-smoked spare ribs with homemade BBQ sauce served with creamy potato salad and Boston-style baked beans. June 12, Stone Sour Fest - "Dr." Bill Sysak is busy hunting down the best sour beers the world has to offer in order to bring San Diego one of the biggest festivals ever held featuring these special brews, taking place at Stone World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido. June 12, The Rare Barrel Brunch at Toronado - In this month's installment of Toronado's popular beer brunch series, Berkeley, CA-based The Rare Barrel will bring their famous sours to North Park to be paired with a multi-course brunch. This event will sell out, so fans of sour beer should not delay. June 13, Saint Archer Supper Club - Head to MillerCoors-owned Saint Archer Brewing for a night of incredible food, rare beers, and a dining. Guest chefs participating at this dinner include Mike Arquines of The Lab Dining Sessions/Mostra Coffee and Phillip Esteban and Tony Guan of The Cork and Craft. Expect Saint Archer classics, Tusk & Grain single barrel releases, as well as a beer crafted specifically for this evening. June 14, Vignalta Wine Dinner at Monello - Believe me, this is an event not to miss! For just $50, get a 5 course dinner with wine pairing and a pasta making demonstration at one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego. June 14, Fall Brewing Beer Dinner at the Mad House Comedy Club - Dinner #2 in Mad House's Craft Beer & Comedy Series brings guests an evening with Fall Brewing. The evening's chef line-up features terrific local chefs for a stunning 6 course meal, including Phillip Ian Esteban from The Cork and Craft, Karen Barnett from Small Bar, RoseAna Peyron from The High Dive, Matt Richman from Table 1888 at Depot Spring Beer Co., the Mad House's own Karl Prohaska, and a dessert prepared by Pastry Goddess Rachel King. Each of these chefs are huge fans of the beer made at Fall Brewing and it always shows in the dishes they bring to the table. As an added bonus, the Mad House has scheduled a killer comedy show for after the dinner co-headlined by two national touring comedians. Tickets are $45. 

June 15, Waypoint Public's Brew Master Dinner Series with Modern Times Brewing - The Brewmaster Dinner Series provides a unique opportunity to experience a menu specially curated by Waypoint Public's Executive Chef Rich Sweeney, to be paired with a unique selection of beers from some of the best craft brewers in the world. At every dinner, diners will hear directly from Chef Rich and his team, as well as the guest brewery's Brewmaster. June 15, 8th Annual Taste of Vista - The 8th Annual Taste of Vista will bring 25 local restaurants and 10 breweries together for a 3-hour festival. New this year, the first 500 food/sip ticket holders will receive a commemorative glass. During the taste, ticket holders will stroll downtown historic Main Street tasting local samplings of Vista's top eateries. Everyone will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite restaurant to win the Golden Fork Award. Guests will taste food samples, craft beers, and enjoy a live country band, all while discovering historic downtown Vista. Tickets start at $20.

June 16, San Diego Magazine's Best Restaurants Party - Celebrate the Best Restaurants issue with an evening of indulgent bites, craft cocktails and chef encounters at Pirch at Westfield UTC. In addition to food sampling, the Cocktail Shake-Off will put spirits at center stage. Guests will taste different creations mixed by winning mixologists and vote for their favorite. Tickets are all-inclusive and start at $60.

June 17, South Coast Winery Resort & Spa Celebrity Chef Dinner - Get up close and personal with Chef Claudia Sandoval, winner of MasterChef Season 6, and Natasha Clement, winner of Food Network ALL-STAR Academy, as they prepare a 7-course dining journey paired to perfection with South Coast Winery and Carter Estate Winery wines. This dinner begins with a one-hour champagne cocktail hour with three-station appetizer raw bar and live music. June 17-19, San Diego International Beer Festival at the San Diego County Fair - Now in its tenth year, the San Diego International Beer Festival has become one of the top beer festivals and competitions in the US. Last year, more than 10,000 beer lovers joined in on one of the five tasting sessions, sipping their way through their choice of hundreds of varieties of ale, cider, porter, stout, mead and more. June 17 & 18, San Diego OysterFest - Definitely more of a music festival than an oyster festival, San Diego OysterFest returns this year for 2 days, featuring headliners Thievery Corporation on Friday and Rebelution on Saturday. June 18, Tiki Party at THE US GRANT Speakeasy - Rendezvous within a secret venue at THE US GRANT Hotel for the third in a series of themed pop-up parties. Hosted by Chef de Bar Cory Alberto, this event will take inspiration from vintage Tiki culture in Southern California for an all-inclusive night of Tiki craft cocktails, rum tasting, Polynesian snacks, entertainment and good times amongst friends. June 23, Summer Wine and Chocolate Pairing at Vin de Syrah - To celebrate the start of summer, Vin de Syrah will host the locally-owned chocolatier Sweet Petite Confections for a five-course wine and chocolate pairing featuring five of the wine parlor’s boutique wines paired with five of Sweet Petite Confections’ gourmet chocolates, with flavors created exclusively for this event. From afternoons spent sipping rosé to late nights around a bonfire, the pairings are intended to be reminiscent of a summer day. June 23, Del Mar Summer Solstice - Experience culinary creations from Del Mar’s highly regarded restaurants. Sip on selections of of California wine, beer, cider, mead and distilled spirits. June 24, Women's Museum of California Wine & Music Festival - The Women’s Museum of California will host its 9th Annual Wine & Music Festival at the North Promenade Lawn at San Diego's Liberty Station in Point Loma, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy summer sips, culinary delights and rockin’ performances by several live bands playing a wide range of music from originals to classic favorites. June 25, 37th Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off Festival - This much-anticipated annual event offers attendees eclectic fun in the sun for all ages. The festivities will bring together guests from the environmental, corporate, and philanthropic sectors and include Baja-inspired sustainable cuisine from talented area chefs, a silent auction, and live music. June 25 & 26, San Diego Night Market - Taking place in the Convoy District – an emerging cultural, dining, and innovative economic hub – the San Diego Night Market returns for its third tasty showcase of unique, mouthwatering food, one-of-a-kind outdoor retail shopping, and of-course the most diverse, modern cultural and contemporary performances in the city. June 26, Farmers, Friends and Fishermen VII -  Don't miss this seasonal farm-to-table dinner at The Red Door, featuring local farmers, ranchers and fisherman. Grab this rare opportunity to play in the onsite garden and savor the summer harvest. In this the seventh in a series of seasonal dinners, but the first ever held at The Red Door Family Garden, the Mission Hills eatery will feature their favorite farmers, ranchers, fisherman and winemakers and their wonderful products. June 27, Bracero Meet The Winemaker Dinner with Cava Maciel - The ever so popular Meet the Winemaker dinner is back at Bracero. Experience culinary perfection as Executive Chef Javier Plascencia and his team pair the finest quality foods with award winning wines in an intimate dinner setting.
