Carne Prima Italian Steakhouse Set To Open In San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter

June 13, 2016

We noticed that a new Italian restaurant has moved into the space at 314 5th Avenue in the center of San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter. Carne Prima Italian Steakhouse is currently under construction at the former Diwali Dining location and will offer a menu of dry aged steaks and Italian culinary staples.

Little is known about Carne Prima at this point. Chef Alian Decka, who hails from Rome, Italy and previously worked at Chianti in Downtown San Diego and Cafe Bella Italia in Pacific Beach, will oversee the culinary operations at Carne Prima.

The interior of the restaurant received a complete overhall. Located within a large, 2-tier, loft-like space in the heart of 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp, the space is beautifully designed, with gigantic mosaic tiled columns on each end of the wooden bar and a luxurious crystal chandelier and sconces dotted around the eatery to give it an old world Italian steakhouse feel. The second floor dining room overlooks the main bar and lounge.

Carne Prima is expected to open this summer.
