Nautilus Tavern To Land At Former La Jolla Tap & Grill Location

February 20, 2017

The owners of Pillbox Tavern in Solana Beach have taken over the space previously occupied by La Jolla Tap & Grill at 6830 La Jolla Boulevard for the opening of Nautilus Tavern, a modern bar & grill anticipated to debut near Windansea Beach in La Jolla/Bird Rock as early as this summer.

"We are excited to get into the Windansea community and open a modern coastal tavern for the neighborhood," explained Nautilus Tavern co-owner Leigh Gibson.

The space formerly operated as La Jolla Tap & Grill will receive a renovation by the design team at ID Studios in Solana Beach to transform the more than 2,500 square-feet of indoor and outdoor space, including a front and back patio, into the beach-themed Nautilus Tavern. Construction on the space should begin in March for an anticipated June 2017 opening.

Nautilus Tavern will feature an expanded food menu similar to that served at Solana Beach's Pillbox Tavern by Chef Shelly Valez. Behind the bar, there will be 30 taps, which will feature many local craft beers, as well as possibly cold brew. There will also be a menu of forward-thinking cocktails and wines by the glass.
