Better Buzz Coffee Roasters To Open Huge Hillcrest Location

April 3, 2017

Fresh off the recent opening of a beautiful new central-Pacific Beach location (pictured ->), Better Buzz Coffee Roaster is already preparing its 8th San Diego outpost. The popular local coffee shop will soon move into the two-story building previously slated for a Jinya Robata at 801 University Avenue in Hillcrest.

Better Buzz Coffee opened its 2nd Pacific Beach branch at 1186 Garnet Avenue in the heart of the beachside neighborhood last month, not far from its flagship location, which will soon receive a refresh to its design and menu. The popular local craft coffee roaster, who will celebrate its 10 year anniversary this year, opened its first location at 1909 Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach in 2007 and its popularity resulted in the drive thru frequently being backed up to the point of causing traffic on the busy street. The company has substantially grown over the past few years and now has locations in Point Loma, Mission Beach, Encinitas, San Marcos, a hub at Fashion Valley Mall in Mission Valley, and its roasting headquarters in Vista.

Better Buzz Coffee Roasters’ 8,000 square-foot, two-story Hillcrest location will house a vintage Probat coffee roaster from Germany for onsite roasting, which will be surrounded by a coffee bar so that patrons can witness the process unfold. There will also be a cold brew lab and event space, and in addition to a menu of coffee and espresso drinks, including drip coffee and cold brews, the new Better Buzz will offer a lineup of organic smoothies and a breakfast and lunch food menu with avocado toast, grilled sandwiches & paninis, muffins, cookies, bagels and a variety of acai bowls. There will also be an outdoor patio and retail component. The Hillcrest location is not anticipated to debut until late 2017.
