After 45 Years Salazar's Fine Mexican Food To Close In San Diego's East Village

July 15, 2017

Opened at 1502 Market Street in San Diego's East Village in 1972, Salazar's Fine Mexican Food has been a staple in America's Finest City for a long time, but the eatery will close on Sunday, July 23.

Due to the sale of the building to make way for a new upscale development coming to the East Village, Salazar's will end it's nearly half-century tenure in San Diego as of next week. Owner Frank Salazar  began working at the age of 14 in the kitchen of the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and decided to make his dream of running his own restaurant a reality when he opened Salazar's in 1972. Those looking to get one last taste of Salazar's classic Americanized Mexican food should hurry in.
