On Sunday, September 3, chefs from Mexico and the United States will face off at Coronado Island Marriott & Spa for the Baja vs. Cali Ceviche Challenge - a cross-border culinary competition - and we're raffling off 2 tickets for one lucky reader.



Ceviche, squid ink art, oyster bar, and more! This Labor Day Weekend, the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa hosts an exciting Baja vs. Cali Ceviche Challenge for the whole family. On Sunday, September 3, from 1-5pm, the resort invites attendees to celebrate the harvest of local fishermen as guest chefs from San Diego and Baja present their best ceviche! Guests are welcome to taste and vote for their favorite ceviche while sipping on beer and wine from Baja, Mexico and California. Just across the bay from Downtown San Diego, guests can enjoy the long weekend with a beautiful view of the water and the picturesque San Diego skyline.

Chefs competing on Team Baja include Gilberto Morales from Restaurante Nómada in Valle de Guadalupe, Julio Rodriguez from Alga Bienin Playas de Tijuana, Rael Rivera from Salsa La Perrona and Casa de Coronados Cafe in Tijuana, and Guillermo “Memo” Barreto from Taqueria Criollo in Ensenada. A duo of hometown San Diego chefs will are ready for the battle - host chef Aaron Obregon of Current & Tides at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Zach Stofferahn of Fish Pit​ Sushi in Rolando.

At this event, attendees can also enjoy an Oyster Shucking bar with fresh and smoked oysters as well as live music and art. Local San Diego artist will demonstrate squid ink painting, that is welcome to attendees of all ages. The event is priced at $45 and includes food, music, art, tax, and parking.
