San Diego hospitality industry veterans are nearly ready to unveil Goodbar, an entertainment-themed neighborhood dive bar anticipated to open soon in Point Loma.
Kenny Casciato and Sean Brosnan, who are both founding partners at Iron Pig Alehouse in Pacific Beach, have joined forces with Sunset Trivia owner Brian Rubinstein and Jeremy Larsen to open Goodbar in the nearly 2,000 square-foot space at 1872 Rosecrans Street San Diego that last housed Coop's Pub.
"I've always hoped to open a dive bar and have wanted to work with Brian at Sunset Trivia for some time," said Goodbar co-owner Kenny Casciato. "Goodbar will be an entertainment-themed local dive bar. Almost every night, we will have some sort of interactive crowd entertainment, from trivia to karaoke to game nights. Like the other establishments I've worked on, this business is going to focus on connecting and being a part of the neighborhood from the outset."
Goodbar will offer patrons a menu of non-pretentious craft cocktails, California wines, and a tap list devoted to local craft beer. Goodbar aims to be an alt-Liberty Station, a casual spot to grab an affordable drink and unwind with friends and neighbors. Located right across the street from Liberty Station's residential area, owners hope to connect with local military residents, as well as the fishing community - even planning to offer a Fisherman's special for the early shift.
Being that Goodbar has a Type 48 liquor license and no kitchen, they will partner with nearby eateries to offer food. Behind the bar, Goodbar will have a cache of menus for hungry patrons to order from and may host a food truck a couple times per week in the bar's designated 12 space parking lot. Owners may also organize small beer fests in the parking lot during the year. Sunset Trivia, which organizes trivia nights at more than 70 establishments around Southern California, will host frequent trivia nights and events at Goodbar during the week.
