Solomon Bagels & Donuts To Open In San Diego's North Park This Fall

October 25, 2017

A longtime bagel pro will bring his patented recipe to North Park with the opening of Solomon Bagels & Donuts, expected to debut as early as this Fall with a menu of NYC-style bagels, donuts, pastries, coffee and more.

Taiwanese immigrant Jeffrey Wang spent nearly two decades honing his bagel craft in New York City before moving to Portland, Oregon to launch his mini-empire of five Kettleman Bagel Company locations, which began in 2006 and sold to bagel behemoth Einstein Bagels in 2011. Wang moved to San Diego about five years ago after he decided to retire, but his passion for baking remained strong. Identifying a need for traditional East Coast bagels in San Diego, Wang decided to pursue the opening of a specialized eatery in North Park.

Solomon Bagels & Donuts will offer a display case full of boiled-then-baked bagels in a wide variety of flavors (from the ever-popular everything to poppy seed, salt, cinnamon raisin, onion, etc.) for take-away, to be made into a sandwich, or topped with an array of house-made cream cheese spreads - from veggie to smoked salmon to sun-dried tomato and marionberry. There will also be an eclectic array of fresh-baked donuts, breads, pastries, and coffee creations. Solomon Bagels & Donuts is anticipated to open by year's end at 4152 30th Street in San Diego's North Park neighborhood. The eatery is taking over the whole 4,000 square foot building, which was once numerous units, and will have a small parking lot.
