It only opened last Summer, but the NYC-themed Queensborough bar & restaurant has already shuttered in San Diego's Gaslamp.
From the minds of San Diego hospitality industry veterans Shane Brennan (Omnia, Enlightened Hospitality, Comun, Holsem Coffee), attorney James Kaen, designer Matthew Ellis (Bluemotif Architecture), and Mike Vizcarra (Comun, Seven Grand, BangBang), Queensborough debuted on July 26, 2017 - offering patrons 1,800 square-feet of ground level bar and dining space inspired by Prohibition-era New York City. The nightlife hotspot hopeful later introduced a 6,000 square-foot club-style lounge in the basement space of the building.
Queensborough recently closed for around a week amidst speculation that it was done for good, but it later reopened only to shutter for real this week. An email from ownership alerted employees and friends of the closure. We reach out to the company for comment but have not received a response. There is no word yet on who will be taking over the space at 777 5th Avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp.
