For the 6th year in a row, Yelp, has released its list of the top 100 places to eat in the United States. Like last year, six San Diego eateries have made the cut.
Each year, Yelp tinkers with its "algorithms" for coming up with its annual "best of" honoration. For 2019, the online, crowd-sourced reviews aggregator is keeping the focus on what was the "must-try" places over the past year. The San Diego spots named to Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. 2019 are Crafted Greens in El Cajon (#17), Chuy’s Taco Shop in Rolando (#29), Tahini in Kearny Mesa (#69), Bud & Rob’s New Orleans Bistro in East Village (#72) Pho Guys in Vista (#75), and Empanada Kitchen in Downtown San Diego (#94).
For Yelp's 2018 list, San Diego also had 6 restaurants make the list. Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. in 2018 included Yoshino Japanese Deli in Carlsbad (#23), the now-defunct T Deli in Hillcrest (#42), Sunny Side Kitchen in Escondido (#45), Beyer Deli in South County San Diego (#59), Pizzamaniac in Vista (#87), and Classics Malt Shop in Point Loma's Midway District (#95).
