Team Behind San Diego's Ambrogio15 To Launch Italian Sandwich Shop & Aperitivo Social Club | Ciao Ciao Piadina Is Coming To La Jolla

September 5, 2019

The crew behind San Diego's expanding Ambrogio15 is partnering on the launch of Ciao Ciao Piadina, an Italian speciality sandwich restaurant and wine bar set to open in downtown La Jolla Village.

Milan-turned-San Diego residents Giacomo Pizzigoni, Andrea Burrone and Luca Salvi opened the flagship Ambrogio15 on Turquoise Street in San Diego's North Pacific Beach community in August 2016. The team expanded last summer with a stall within the Little Italy Food Hall and also has plans in place for a micro-version of Ambrogio15 to debut within Del Mar Highlands Town Center's incoming, 20,000 square-foot, multi-restaurant food hall called The Sky Deck. The Ambrogio boys have no plans on slowing down and in addition to launching Semola Artisan Express Pasta in the Little Italy Food Hall later this year, they are also partnering on the opening of an Italian sandwich eatery and enoteca in La Jolla.

Ciao Ciao Piadina will open in partnership with longtime friends of the Ambrogio team, Francesco Burnazzi and Lauren Turton. The eatery will soon install in the space that currently houses Poke Go on Pearl Street in La Jolla Village and offer a menu centered around piadina, which is an Italian flatbread sandwich from the region of Emilia-Romagna. With the tagline "The Apertivo Social Club", Ciao Ciao Piadina will also be bringing patrons an authentic apertivo (Italian happy hour) experience featuring natural and biodynamic wines and a variety of spritzes.

Ciao Ciao Piadina aims to open by year's end at 510 Pearl Street in La Jolla. For more information. visit ciaociaopiadinasd.com.
