Lolita’s Mexican Food Unveils Seventh Location On San Diego State University Campus

September 4, 2019

San Diego fast casual Mexican cuisine chain Lolita’s Mexican Food has grand opened its seventh area branch, a 2,000+ square-foot restaurant located directly on San Diego State University campus.

Opening the doors to their first location in 1984, Lolita’s holds over 50 combined years of Mexican food industry knowledge. Joaquin and Dolores "Lolita" Farfan opened their first restaurant in Chula Vista in 1984. The family-run restaurant now boasts 7 locations around San Diego, as well as a food truck for offsite catering. Both Joaquin and Lolita had faith that their work ethic had been passed on to their children, and now all six children are on board to help run the business.

"We are excited to expand our brand and offer a conveniently located Mexican food destination for SDSU students and faculty." says Juan Farfan, Lolita’s youngest son. "Building a relationship with the San Diego State community is important to our family. Serving guests our authentic recipes, quality of food and building future partnerships with students and staff is part of our focus in this new community. Three out of our six siblings are San Diego State Alumni which will make the opening of this store even more special to our family"

The new 2,027 square foot Lolita's is located at 5120 College Ave. Suite 125 and features new design and brand elements which highlight the quality and authenticity of Lolita’s Restaurants. This outpost will host some on-campus events (hoping for a taco eating contest), as well as some other free student events that will take place over the first few weeks of opening. Lolita's will also be adding a healthy selection of salad options to compliment their large array of Mexican taco shop staples like tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and smothered fries.
