Following four successful seasons highlighting America's hardworking fishing communities and sustainable seafood practices, Gomes once again travels the country - and frequently hops aboard boats himself - to spotlight the people and traditions behind the catch. Season Five promises even more adventure, education, and storytelling, all delivered with Gomes' trademark authenticity, humor, and deep respect for the ocean.
Produced by 4 Mile Post Productions and Sporting Chef Production, The Fishmonger follows Gomes as he champions local fisheries, supports independent fishermen, and educates audiences about the journey from sea to plate. Gomes, who rose to national fame after decades of working the docks and counters of San Diego’s seafood scene, uses the show as a platform to advocate for responsible seafood sourcing and to honor the unsung heroes of America's working waterfronts.
This season kicks off with "Follow That Crab!" (premiering May 5), where Tommy dives into the North Carolina blue crab fishery with Seaview Crab Co., showing how fresh crab moves from boat to market. Future episodes include "Put It On Ice" (May 12), focusing on best practices for sport anglers and shrimp harvesters; "Like a Sturgeon" (May 19), which explores the catch and culinary traditions around the ancient sturgeon; and "Let's Get Nautical" (May 26), featuring commercial spearfishing off the historic Cape Fear coastline.

Locally, Season Five of The Fishmonger will proudly showcase several San Diego restaurants and purveyors, including Ponyboy at The Pearl Hotel, 31Thirtyone in North Park, and Paradisea in Bird Rock, as well as San Diego’s own Tuna Harbor Dockside Market. Gomes will also spotlight local fishing icons like Sunny, the tent manager of Tunaville Market; fishermen Johnny Glawson, Jimmy Strait, and Johnny Strait; and extend the spotlight beyond San Diego to fishermen like Richard Jackson from Port Orford, Oregon, and across North Carolina.
Known for his catchphrase "Respect the Fish," Gomes remains deeply rooted in San Diego, where his influence stretches from Point Loma’s docks to top restaurants across Southern California. Before launching his television career, Gomes was already considered a local icon for his efforts to connect consumers with truly local, sustainable seafood. In addition to being a TV star, Tommy, along with Mitch's Seafood founder Mitch Conniff, are the proud owners of Tunaville Fish Market & Grocery within Driscoll's Wharf in San Diego's historic fishing community of Point Loma.
