The show uses projection-mapping technology to bring a cast of animated chefs to life directly on diners’ tables. As the story unfolds, the tiny culinary characters “prepare” each dish before the real-life version arrives, creating a seamless fusion of theater and gastronomy. The result is a whimsical, multi-sensory meal that has become a global sensation, staged in more than 100 venues around the world from cruise ships to luxury hotels.
Each performance lasts about 90 minutes to two hours and features a four-course meal paired to the narrative, which transports guests across cultures and continents. The introductory menu includes a Spanish marinated tomato salad, Italian truffle ravioli, French steak and frites, and a Japanese-inspired dessert of white chocolate cake with lemon sorbet and wasabi matcha cream. Vegetarian and children’s menus are also available, with dishes served in sync with the animated storyline.
The experience marks the only installation of Le Petit Chef in San Diego and follows a $22.5 million renovation of the 401 K Street hotel, which updated guest rooms, public spaces, and dining areas. The Hilton joins a short list of U.S. venues offering the production, including properties in Santa Monica and Los Angeles.
Tickets for the event start at $169 for adults, $129 for vegetarian diners, and $89 for children ages six to twelve, plus tax and gratuity. Seating is available Wednesday through Sunday evenings at 5:30, 6:30, and 8:30pm, with reservations required and space limited.
