Joyee Dumpling House Team Bringing New San Diego Location With Taiwan-Style Breakfast

San Diego-founded Joyee Dumpling House is preparing to expand once again, with plans underway for a new location named Joyce Noodle House opening within Renaissance Towne Centre in University City.

According to filings submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality, Joyee Noodle House is working to open a restaurant at 8935 Towne Centre Drive, Suite 100, taking over a space previously occupied by Rubio’s. Ownership has indicated the new location is targeting an opening sometime next month, pending final approvals.

What will set this Joyee location apart from the brand’s existing footprint is the addition of a Taiwan-style breakfast menu, something not currently offered at any of the restaurant’s other San Diego locations. While details of the breakfast offerings have not yet been publicly released, Taiwanese breakfast concepts typically include items such as savory soy milk, scallion pancakes, rice rolls, and dumpling-forward morning dishes.

Joyee Dumpling House was founded in San Diego and has steadily grown to five locations across the region, including outposts in Poway, near SDSU, Torrey Highlands, Vista, and Oceanside. The restaurants are known for hand-made dumplings, noodle bowls, soups, and a mix of meat-based and vegetarian dishes prepared using traditional Chinese techniques.

The University City location will continue that core menu while adapting to a mall-based setting that caters to office workers, nearby residents, students, and shoppers. The Renaissance Towne Centre, located near major employment hubs and residential developments, has seen increased restaurant turnover in recent years as dining concepts reposition for hybrid work patterns and changing consumer habits.

The new Joyee Noodle House will open adjacent to a forthcoming Mr. Moto Pizza location, which is expected to debut later this spring, adding to the center’s evolving mix of fast-casual and sit-down dining options.

With this expansion, Joyee continues to quietly build one of the more consistent regional Chinese restaurant groups in San Diego County, favoring incremental growth over splashy launches. If the Taiwan-style breakfast component proves successful, it could signal a broader menu evolution for the brand moving forward.

Joyee Noodle House’s new location is opening at 8935 Towne Centre Drive, Suite 100, in San Diego’s University City neighborhood. For more information, visit joyeesdumpling.com.
