One of San Diego’s fastest-rising pastry brands is preparing for major expansion as Desserts By Clément confirms plans to open two additional locations across San Diego County, beginning with a new Del Mar outpost expected to debut in early summer, followed by a future location in Vista.
While founder and pastry chef Clément Le Déoré is keeping the exact addresses under wraps for now, he confirmed to SanDiegoVille that both bakeries are currently in development and that official locations will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The expansion marks a significant milestone for the French-born pastry chef, whose Pacific Beach bakery has rapidly evolved from a local dessert shop into one of San Diego’s most recognizable modern pastry destinations. Since opening the flagship location along Garnet Avenue in late 2023, Desserts By Clément has built a devoted following around its visually striking French pastries, hyper-realistic molded desserts, colorful macarons, laminated croissants, artisan breads, sandwiches, and café offerings.
Customers at the upcoming Del Mar and Vista locations can expect concepts nearly identical to the original Pacific Beach store, featuring rotating dessert cases filled with signature entremets, seasonal pastries, viennoiserie, sandwiches, breads, espresso drinks, coffee beverages, and soft drinks.
Le Déoré’s growing visibility has accelerated dramatically over the past several years. Before launching his own company, he served as executive pastry chef for San Diego-based Le Parfait Paris and later gained national attention through multiple Food Network appearances. Earlier this year, the chef competed on the inaugural season of Food Network’s The Ultimate Baking Championship, where he advanced all the way to the finale and finished as runner-up behind winner Molly Coen of Carmel, California.
Originally from Brittany, France, Le Déoré began baking at age 15 before spending years working across Europe and Australia prior to settling in San Diego. His pastry style blends traditional French technique with the increasingly social media-driven aesthetics of modern haute pâtisserie, featuring mirror glazes, sculptural mousse cakes, realistic fruit-shaped desserts, and elaborate layered compositions that have helped his bakery go viral online.
The expansion into Del Mar and Vista also reflects broader momentum within San Diego’s evolving pastry scene, which has increasingly become more competitive and visually ambitious in recent years as local consumers embrace European-style bakeries, specialty coffee culture, and luxury dessert concepts. While many independent bakeries struggle to scale beyond a single flagship location, Desserts By Clément appears positioned to become one of the few homegrown San Diego pastry brands successfully expanding countywide.
Le Déoré has previously indicated ambitions that extend beyond pastry alone, including eventual plans for additional bakery locations and a future full-service French restaurant concept.
Desserts By Clément’s flagship bakery is located at 1380 Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach. The Del Mar location is expected to open in early summer 2026, with the Vista branch anticipated to follow thereafter. For more information, visit dessertsbyclement.com.
