Chula Vista Brewery has officially bid farewell to its Eastlake location, confirming that the brewery has consolidated all operations at its original downtown Chula Vista taproom. The announcement came Saturday in a brief social media post.
"A fond farewell to Eastlake," the brewery wrote. "After five incredible years, we close the chapter of Eastlake. We are beyond grateful for every beer shared, celebration, friendship and memories made along the way. Thank you Eastlake for allowing us to serve you five years."
Although the public announcement came this weekend, head brewer Derek Gallanosa told SanDiegoVille the Eastlake brewpub has already been closed to the public for some time. He said the property's lease has expired and the company has completed a consolidation of its brewing and hospitality operations at its original downtown Chula Vista location.
"We are consolidating everything to the Downtown CV location," Gallanosa said, adding that new beers are already beginning to roll out following the transition.
The Eastlake brewpub, located at 871 Showroom Place, represented a major milestone in Chula Vista Brewery's expansion. First announced in 2020, the approximately 6,450-square-foot facility opened the following year with a 10-barrel brewing system, expansive indoor-outdoor seating and a partnership with Oak & Anchor BBQ. Earlier this year, the Parkers temporarily closed the venue for a substantial renovation that introduced a refreshed interior, a revamped culinary concept and Gallanosa as the brewery's new head brewer.
Founded in 2017 by Timothy and Dali Parker, Chula Vista Brewery has become one of South Bay's best-known independent breweries. The company has earned medals at the Great American Beer Festival and the San Diego International Beer Competition while building a reputation for community events, live music and charitable fundraisers. It is also recognized as San Diego County's only Black-owned brewery.
The brewery has also weathered a challenging stretch over the past year. Last October, its original Third Avenue location was ordered to suspend alcohol sales for 45 days by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control over repeated noise complaints. The Parkers publicly disputed the enforcement action, alleging discriminatory treatment and racial bias by state regulators, allegations the ABC has not publicly addressed.
Saturday's announcement drew an outpouring of appreciation from longtime customers, musicians and community members who reminisced about performances, celebrations and friendships forged at the Eastlake brewpub during its five-year run.
With the Eastlake chapter now closed, Chula Vista Brewery says its focus is squarely on its original location at 294 Third Avenue, where customers can expect new beer releases as the brewery begins its next chapter.
