Brewley’s Pint | PB’s Irish Pub

May 30, 2012

I believe that every great neighborhood in the world must have an Irish pub. It’s really a fascinating truth. There is something about the laid-back-no-nonsense approach of Irish taverns that appeals to everyone, everywhere. Although Pacific Beach is a community inundated with bars, Brewley’s Pint differentiates itself from the crowd as the only Irish pub in the area – but with a refreshing twist. With an ample selection of beer and wine, daily happy hours and specials, frequent live music, and tons of games at your disposal - including darts, pool, shuffleboard, board games, and a giant Jenga - Brewley’s offers PB something pleasantly distinct from its neighbors, in a classic old world pub setting.

While you can’t grab a Jameson shot with your pint of Guinness, as there is no hard liquor served, Brewley’s has many beverages to wet your whistle. Brewley’s embraces the San Diego craft beer scene while also staying true to form with classic Irish offerings (Magners, Boddingtons, Smithwick’s, and Harp). Brewley’s even offers the quintessential layered beer concoctions like the classic Black & Tan (Guiness and Smithwick’s), the Black Magic (Guiness and Magic Hat #9) and the Black Top (Guiness and Shock Top). There are a boatload of unique canned beers that you won’t find anywhere else, as well as a rotating tap and a beer of the month (always $3 pint and $5 20 oz.).

If beer isn’t your beverage of choice, grab a glass of wine from their lengthy wine list or order a creative cocktail made of Asian wine liquor (HAN or other distilled liquor under 50 proof) with zesty names like “Loco Leprechaun” and “Punch with a Pinch.”

Traditional Irish taverns didn’t serve food, and neither does Brewley’s (except for fresh hot popcorn). But Brewley’s allows patrons to bring in whatever snacks or meals they’d like to enjoy with a pint. Brewley’s even has a close relationship with neighbors, Woodstock Pizza and Taproom, so feel free to ask your friendly server to place an order for you. Or, take your pick at any number of local restaurants that will surely deliver to Brewley’s. Why be limited to just one food menu?

Although Brewley’s is somewhat quaint, it makes the most of its space. Good music floats up to the lofty dark wood rafters, filling this classic tavern. There’s a pool table right up front, two dartboards, and even a shuffleboard table at the back. Dart players gather in droves for the Monday night dart league (which will be expanding in the future), and fans of Syracuse and Florida State frequent Brewley’s to cheer on their teams (Brewley’s has EVERY sports package).

Brewley’s offers a unique lineup of nightly specials and happy hours. On Tuesday, most drafts are $2 starting at 7 pm, and go up 50 cents ever hour until midnight. On Wednesday from 7 pm to close, Brewley’s has $12 pitchers and $12 bottles of wine, and on Sunday, happy hour is all night!

Swing by Brewley’s for good times and friendly folks. Slainte!
