On December 13th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Andaz San Diego will host its final Andaz Salon event of 2012: Malts, Hops and Curds, a craft beer and artisanal cheese pairing event to be held in the Ivy Wine Bar. This event will offer guests an up close and personal look at two much-loved local companies: Green Flash Brewing Co. and Venissimo Cheese.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample at least six different beer and cheese pairings throughout the course of the evening. Representatives from both Green Flash Brewing Co. and Venissimo Cheese will share insights about the pairings and explore the growth of one of San Diego’s most popular local craft beers and growing local demand for artisanal cheeses.
Green Flash Brewing Co., founded in San Diego in 2002 by former pub owners Mike and Lisa Hinkley, has made a name for itself by developing award-winning beers that share modern twists on traditional styles. Specializing in brewing assertive and distinctive “hybrid” beers, Green Flash’s most popular beer to date is its West Coast I.P.A. - one of SanDiegoVille's definitive favorites! The brewery also partakes in creating seasonal, collaborative and barrel-aged beers.
Venissimo Cheese, founded by Gina and Roger Freize in San Diego in 2003, carved its way into the San Diego scene with a wide assortment of artisan cheeses for sale. Today, the company has expanded to four locations in and around San Diego, and has had nearly 2,000 cheeses pass through its stores, making it a favorite for fromage-minded locals.
