Fish Public Now Open in Kensington | Former Kensington Grill to Offer Seafood Centric Fare

June 13, 2013

Kensington's hottest new neighborhood eatery, Fish Public is now officially open to the public. Owner and longtime local business owner, Tracy Borkum, opened doors on Tuesday evening, June 11th, to eager anticipation from the surrounding foodie community.  The new eatery has recently released Executive Chef Jordan Davis's new menu for the concept that took over the Kensington Grill. The lineup features seafood-centric fare with an emphasis on fresh catches from both Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Below you can find the full list of beverage and cocktail offerings and in addition, some details on FP's weekly happy hour specials which kick off this week!

Southern California designer and restaurant visionary Tracy Borkum is once again delivering eager San Diego food enthusiasts with a desirable new dining locale. After 18 years and much consideration, Borkum closed doors to the deep-rooted Kensington Grill with immediate plans to complete a total concept overhaul. In June 2013 following a two-month cosmetic renovation of the space, Urban Kitchen Group introduced an exciting new neighborhood seafood concept, aptly named Fish Public.

“We wanted to bring something new to Kensington, and yet still retain that comforting local appeal. Fish Public is a place you can come dressed up or dressed down with friends and family for a night out on the town. We have something for everyone from the new coastal inspired design to the seafood menu derived from both oceans,” says Borkum.

Fish Public bolsters the entrepreneur’s pedigreed roster of restaurants, including CUCINA urbana—the park-side dining landmark that opened doors to enormous acclaim in 2009 after a similar decision to re-concept the longstanding Laurel Restaurant. Sister restaurant CUCINA enoteca launched soon after in the Irvine Spectrum Center in December of 2011. While simultaneously opening up Fish Public, Borkum is also diving headfirst into her third CUCINA location with the forthcoming CUCINA enoteca Del mar, which will open in the recently renovated Flower Hill Promenade in late summer 2013.

Heading up the heart of the house at the venue is esteemed Executive Chef Jordan Davis; a fresh new culinary talent recently arrived to San Diego. The chef brings with him experience from Nancy Oakes’ multi-James Beard winning Boulevard in San Francisco as well as the Food & Wine recognized nose-to-tail restaurant, Animal in Los Angeles.

Fish Public is located at 4055 Adams Avenue and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 5-9:30pm. For more information please visit
