Vino-Revolutionary Joel Peterson to Host Ravenswood Winemaker Dinner at Roppongi | Four-Courses with the Godfather of Zin on Wednesday, Oct. 29

October 12, 2014

Roppongi Restaurant & Sushi Bar in La Jolla will present the Ravenswood Winemaker Dinner hosted by Joel Peterson, beginning at 6:30pm on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Peterson, known as the “Godfather of Zin,” is the co-founder of Ravenswood Winery in Sonoma County, California, and will be on hand presenting each of Executive Chef Alfie Szeprethy's four-courses and explaining the wine pairings.

The first course will feature a garlic grilled shrimp salad made with frisée, shaved fennel and orange supremes in curry vinaigrette, paired with Ravenswood Sangiacomo Chardonnay. Guests will then enjoy a surf-and-turf course, with braised ox tail, diver scallops, harissa hollandaise, pickled beets and a micro green salad, paired with a glass of Ravenswood Besieged Red Blend.

The third course will offer a black pepper-crusted filet, with coriander polenta and heirloom tomato ragu with Thai basil vinaigrette, paired with a Ravenswood Old Vine Zinfandel. The meal will conclude with milk chocolate mousse with blackberries, candied pistachios and lemon-nutmeg whipped cream served with a glass of Ravenswood Big River Zinfandel.

Peterson has become an icon among Northern California winemakers both for his astonishing success and love-life personality. The microbiologist started out as a small-time winemaker and co-founded Ravenswood Winery in 1976 with no vineyards to his name, and has since turned it into a multi-million dollar operation. He currently serves as vice president of Constellation Brands – the world’s largest wine producer – and head winemaker at Ravenswood.

The Ravenswood Winemaker Dinner is priced at $80 per person. Seating is limited and reservations are required by calling (858) 551-5252 or by email at [email protected]. Roppongi is located at 875 Prospect St. For more information, visit roppongiusa.com or follow at facebook.com/roppongilajolla.
