April 28, 2015

Want to experience some of the best sake Japan has to offer without leaving sunny San Diego? On Thursday, May 14, Saiko Sake & Sushi Bar in North Park presents the first-ever San Diego Joto Sake Brewers Dinner! This event is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for San Diegans to have direct access to Japan’s finest sake with five of Japan’s Master Sake Brewers on location with their interpreters. Enjoy 5 delicious courses paired with specialty sake offerings.

For just $70, attendees will indulge in the unique pairing menu by Saiko owner and Executive Chef Anthony Pascal. Diners will enjoy a five-course menu, offering items such as Grilled Hawaiian Big Eye Tuna Cheek, Red Miso Cured Pork Belly, and Seared Foie Gras, while sipping on sake from five of Japan’s most celebrated sake breweries. End dinner on a sweet note with a special doughnut created by Nomad Donuts’ Kristianna Zabala. As an added treat, before each course Saiko owner and Certified Sake Specialist, Evan Bennett, will provide an introductory tutorial on the specialty sake and explain the process behind the food pairings.

The Master Brewers from each of the featured sakes, along with interpreters, will also be in attendance to answer questions about their products and techniques. The brewers include Joto Toshiaki Imaoka of Izuma Fuji Brewery, Ariyoshi Kato of Fuji Brewery, Tsuyoshi Nakao of Nakao Brewery, Yasunobu Tomita of Tomita Brewery, and Takaaki Yamuchi of Huchu Homare Brewery.
