Bradrick "Coop" Cooper has made a name for himself in San Diego County as the purveyor of some of the most delicious barbecue in town, but come March 1, Coop will be adding fried chicken to his full-time repertoire, as he will open Da Chicken Coop in the same shopping plaza that houses his original concept - Coop's West Texas BBQ.

Coop's Lemon Grove institution - Coop's West Texas BBQ - has earned rave reviews over it's 5 year tenure and was even named as one of Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S in 2014 & 2016, but Coop also knows a thing or two about fried chicken. After taking home both the People's Choice and Judge's Choice titles at Eating and Drinking in San Diego's Fried Chicken Throwdown in August of last year, Bradrick realized it was time to start frying chicken full time. When a former taco shop came up for rent in the same plaza that houses his barbecue mecca, he decided to expand, and the idea for Da Chicken Coop was born.

Da Chicken Coop will include outdoor patio seating for up to 60 people. In addition to fried chicken and chicken sandwiches, the menu will offer waffles, sides and fresh fish options (see below). Coop is ready to offer something different than other fried chicken spots in town. He marinates his chicken in a dry seasoning, then dredges it in buttermilk and his secret flour and seasoning mix.

Both Coop's West Texas BBQ and Da Chicken Coop are located in the shopping plaza at 2625 Lemon Grove Avenue. Check out the first mock up menu below for Da Chicken Coop.
