Curbside Eatery + Drinkery Heading Into Downtown La Mesa Village

May 31, 2017

San Diego industry professionals, including owners of The Regal Bar and Antica Trattoria, are joining forces to open Curbside Eatery + Drinkery - a 2,200+ square-foot indoor & outdoor bar and restaurant heading into La Mesa Village this summer.

Downtown La Mesa will be getting a new neighborhood bar this summer from longtime industry pros Franco Basile, Jonathan Baron and Gabe Giordano. Basile, who will be executive chef of Curbside, grew up eating in Sicily and learned to cook in culinary school in Italy. His other restaurant, Antica Trattoria, was opened in 2001 and quickly became a gathering place in Lake Murray. La Mesa native Jonathan Baron owns The Regal Bar, which is considered one of downtown La Mesa's top social clubs. Gabe Giordano is a serial entrepreneur, and as a La Mesa native, Gabe spearheaded a 20-year vision for the downtown area which is inspired by San Diego’s Little Italy district. He and his wife, Tracy were the first to bring a downtown dining and entertainment venue to La Mesa with Gio Bistro and Wine Bar, opened in 2008 (now BO-beau Kitchen + Garden).

Along with handcrafted cocktails, Curbside will serve a menu of elevated bar fare with a Mediterranean influence. The design will offer a 1,670 square-foot open floor plan interior with a wraparound patio separated by garage-style windows, offering an airy experience with views of La Mesa Boulevard & 3rd Avenue. Curbside will also feature two additional patios. Specialty cocktails will range from mojitos to sangrias to champagne cocktails, and there will also be wines by the glass and bottle and local craft beer.

Curbside Eatery + Drinkery is expected to open at 8353 La Mesa Boulevard in downtown La Mesa in late August. For more information, visit curbsidelamesa.com.
