East Village's Top Steakhouse To Undergo Complete Renovation To Kick Of New Decade | Get Ready For Cowboy Star 2.0 In 2020

December 19, 2019

To kick off 2020, East Village's 10 year-old Cowboy Star will close at the start of the New Year for a complete interior remodel spearheaded by one of San Diego's most iconic designers.

Cowboy Star will close on January 1 for an estimated 3 week renovation by San Diego's own Basile Studios, the design firm behind such area stunners as Morning Glory, Raised By Wolves, Born & Raised, Kindred and more. Work has already begun on the classic steakhouse's adjacent butcher shop, which will continue taking orders through the rest of the year. Expect a modernized aesthetic to open up the space with the butcher shop to be more tied in to the restaurant and bar experience instead of being a stand alone entity. Cowboy Star's menu will also receive a tweak by Executive Chef and Partner Victor Jiminez.

"After 10 years we wanted to refresh and update the experience to give our guests a reason to keep coming back for another 10 years," commented Cowboy Star president Jon Weber. "Paul Basile is handling the redesign. The space was his workshop years before it was Cowboy Star, so he is the perfect person to help reimagine Cowboy Star 2.0. We like to think of Cowboy Star as a warm hug when you walk in. It was really important to us that we keep that feeling while updating the overall experience. It will still feel like Cowboy Star just with a few added touches."

Cowboy Star is open through New Year's Eve with reservations currently available. The restaurant is located at 640 10th Avenue in San Diego's East Village. For more information and to make reservations, visit cowboystarsd.com or call 619.450.5880.
