Now open in the space last occupied for nearly four decades by a Souplantation in San Diego's Midway District is King Crab Juicy Seafood, a New York-based Cajun seafood boil concept.
Qing Feng Wu and Jenny Zhang opened the first King Crab Juicy Seafood in Rochester, NY, in May 2019, and the company now has more than 25 locations dotted around New York, Texas, Virginia, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Florida. The first San Diego branch has opened in the sprawling Midway Towne Center space that was occupied by Souplantation from 1983 until the company folded last year. A second San Diego location is also in the works for Carlsbad.
Like other King Crab Juicy Seafood restaurants, the San Diego outpost will offer a menu of Cajun and Creole spiced boiled seafood with a Vietnamese twist, as well as fried seafood, oysters, pasta, po-boy sandwiches, salad, and appetizers. Based on the success of the first San Diego locations, more may open in the near future.
