Massive smoke plumes were seen today as the former Ruby's Diner and Brine Box space caught fire at the end of the Oceanside Pier in San Diego's North County.

The fire, which broke out at approximately 3pm Thursday, likely will result in significant damage to the iconic pier landmark. It is believed the fire started underneath the pier or within the restaurant and everyone made it off safely.
