Once featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives," Nutmeg Bakery & Cafe has closed their location in San Diego's Scripps Ranch and will soon reopen in a new space.
Drew and Michka Hoffos opened their first Nutmeg Bakery & Café in 2012 in Sabre Springs before expanding to Scripps Ranch in 2019. In early 2023, Nutmeg Bakery was featured on Food Network's hit television show Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. Despite the "Guy Fieri effect" resulting in a business boost, rising costs have caused the company to close one of their locations.
The couple shuttered their Scripps Ranch outpost over the weekend and is in the process of relocating their restaurant five miles away to the space that last housed San Diego Cafe in Poway. Scheduled to soft open this week, the new location will serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes, as well as new menu items like a chicken sandwich, burgers, salads and burritos.
