Shake Shack To Grand Open Del Mar Location On March 18 With Little Italy Outpost Expected To Unveil By Summer

March 13, 2019

With two San Diego locations already open, NYC-based, modern burger chain Shake Shack will open the doors to its newest area outpost next week within the new One Paseo mixed-use development in Del Mar, with a flagship Little Italy location anticipated to debut by this summer.

Shake Shack is a contemporary "roadside" burger stand known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers and chicken sandwiches (no added hormones or antibiotics), griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle cut fries and more. The New York City-based Shake Shack has earned a cult-like following around the world since its inception in 2004. Celebrity Chef Danny Meyer's "fine-casual" burger chain opened its first San Diego branch within the revived Westfield UTC in La Jolla in October 2017, with the second location debuting in Mission Valley in December 2017. The newest Shake Shack will open on Monday, March 18 at 11am at One Paseo, which will house other big name restaurants, including International Smoke by San Francisco chef Michael Mina and cookbook author Ayesha Curry, modern organic Mexican eatery Tocaya Organica, Top Chef Dakota Weiss’ Cali-meets-Hawaii Sweetfin Poké, and Huntington Beach’s Ways & Means Oyster House. The fourth San Diego branch will land in Little Italy as early as this summer, taking over the site on the corner of Grape and India streets where an auto shop and psychic fortune teller once stood.

In addition to Shake Shack's classic and secret menus, the Del Mar Shack will be spinning up a unique selection of frozen custard concretes including the Pie Oh My with vanilla custard and a slice of Four & Twenty seasonal pie. The menu will also feature the California-exclusive Roadside Double, a double Swiss cheeseburger topped with Dijon mustard and onions simmered in bacon and beer. Guests will be able to wash their burgers down with local brews from Modern Times Beer, Stone Brewing, AleSmith Brewing Company and Thorn Brewing - plus Shake Shack’s exclusive Brooklyn Brewery ShackMeister Ale. Wine lovers can enjoy a glass of Shack Red and Shack White wine from the Gotham Project. As part of Shake Shack’s mission to Stand For Something Good, the Del Mar Shack will donate 5% of sales from its Pie Oh My concrete to I Love A Clean San Diego , an organization that actively conserves the environment through example, outreach and local involvement.

The 2,898 square-foot Del Mar Shack will feature a custom mural by Eric Junker as well as a patio with ample seating for guests. In keeping with Shake Shack’s commitment to green architecture and eco-friendly construction, the Del Mar Shack’s tabletops will be made by CounterEvolution using reclaimed bowling alley lanes, chairs designed by Uhuru using sustainable materials, and booths crafted by Staach using lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Shake Shack Del Mar will sit at 3705 Paseo Place, Suite 1140, within the new One Paseo development. For more information, visit shakeshack.com.
