After more than 16 years in business, Ebisu Sushi in San Diego's Hillcrest community has announced it will close its business next week.
In what may be an unfortunate trend caused by the hardships surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, Ebisu Sushi is going out of business. The restaurant's owners took to social media yesterday to announce that the neighborhood Japanese eatery would be shuttering after end of service on May 16.
"All good things must come to an end," posted Ebisu Sushi owners Han Tran & Jay Choy. "With very heavy hearts we must announce that our final day of business here at Ebisu will be May 16th. 16.5 years is a damn great run, and we are proud of and extremely grateful for the time we’ve had, the special place we built, and especially the bonds we’ve made with all the amazing people who built it alongside us."
Husband & wife owners Chef Jay Choy & Han Tran founded Ebisu Sushi in 2004. The couple also owns Crab Town and Kearny Mesa and Shank & Bone in North Park.
"So many great memories were made within these walls of our little mom and pop sushi shop," continued Tran and Choy. "We will have epic stories to tell and cherish for a lifetime. We are humbled by and appreciate all of you who have shown up over the years, for your boundless support and love. Thank you for letting us feed you, host your celebrations, and pour your drinks. Thank you for the laughs, hugs, history, and friendship."
