Los Angeles-Based Silverlake Ramen To Open San Diego Location

June 11, 2021

Los Angeles' super popular Silverlake Ramen is opening a location in San Diego, taking over the space left dormant by the short-lived Bibigo Kitchen at Fashion Valley Mall.

Founded by Japan-raised chef Tomas Aono and Jitaek Lim in 2012, the first Silverlake Ramen opened at Sunset Junction in Silver Lake and quickly had patrons lining up for hour-long waits to get a taste of the rich-flavored ramen broths filled with twice-marinated pork belly. The company now has 16 restaurants, most of which are franchisee owned, with several more in the works. The restaurants offer a menu featuring an array of Japanese dishes, including appetizers, rice bowls and ramen.

The San Diego location of Silverlake Ramen will open on the lower level at Fashion Valley Mall below the AMC Theatre in the unit previously occupied by Bibigo Kitchen. The restaurant will be operated by franchisees Aaron & Grace Kim. In addition to its full menu of Japanese izakaya favorites, the Fashion Valley location will also sell beer, wine and sake.

Silverlake Ramen's San Diego location is expected to open this summer at 7007 Friars Road, Suite #357B, within Fashion Valley Mall in Mission Valley. For more information, visit silverlakeramen.com.
