Korean bibimbap chain Bibigo Kitchen has permanently shuttered its full-service restaurant in San Diego's Fashion Valley Mall after less than a year in business.
Opened in May 2019, Bibigo Kitchen was a fine-casual concept from South Korea-based CJ Group, which also operates fast-casual Bibigo Fresh Korean Kitchen in Westfield UTC in La Jolla. Bibigo Kitchen offered a menu of modern Korean dishes from In Jun Hwang, a veteran chef with over 18 years of cooking experience. Bibigo Kitchen shuttered its elegant dining room when the COVID-19 pandemic forced most businesses to close in mid-March 2020, and the eatery never reopened. We received word today that the restaurant had surrendered its liquor license and will not return. Fashion Valley Mall does not have a replacement tenant yet in place for the space.
