Tiger! Tiger! Tavern Ends Near Decade-Long Run In San Diego's North Park

September 17, 2020

After almost a decade in business in San Diego's North Park, Tiger!Tiger! Tavern has announced it is permanently closed.

Clea Hantman, Jeff Motch, and Jenniffer & Lee Chase opened Tiger! Tiger! Tavern in 2011 in North Park, offering scratch-made pub food complimented by an epic craft beer list. The ownership team also owns Blind Lady Ale House in Normal Heights with onsite brewery Automatic Brewing Co. and Panama 66 at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park.

The closure of Tiger! Tiger! Tavern has been directly linked to months of forced closures surrounding precautions put in place to hasten the spread of COVID-19. Blind Lady Ale House continues to survive due to take-out orders and being Panama 66 is entirely outdoors, restrictions have not severely affected their business like at Tiger!Tiger!.

Many notable San Diego eateries have already shuttered because of the coronavirus pandemic and associated restrictions, including Crab Catcher in La Jolla, Searsucker in the Gaslamp, downtown's Bang Bang, Donovan's Steak & Chophouse, Whisknladle in La Jolla, The Oceanaire Seafood Room in the Gaslamp, The Balboa Bar & Grill in Bankers Hill, The Dubliner on 4th Avenue, Burger Lounge Gaslamp, and the entire Souplantation chain. It is rumored the California Restaurant Association has already been informed that Governor Gavin Newsom will announce next Tuesday that San Diego County will be moved into the most restrictive tier of precautions which will force many area businesses to cease indoor operations once again beginning on Friday, September 25.
