New York City’s Famed Prince Street Pizza To Open San Diego Location

October 1, 2021

A location of New York City's super popular Prince Street Pizza shop is in the works for San Diego.

Prince Street Pizza was founded in 2012 by father-and-son owners Frank & Dominic Morano, who took over their New York City space from the historic Ray's Pizza, which shuttered following a 52-year run the previous year. The authentic NYC slice shop concept has since expanded with branches now sited in Los Angeles' West Hollywood and Miami, FL. Earlier this year, Prince Street Pizza founders stepped down from their managerial roles following exposed instances of unsafe COVID-19 practices, racist statements made in Yelp responses, and mocking of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Prince Street Pizza is taking over part of the space previously occupied by Mariscos El Pulpo on Market Street in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. Expect a classic New York City slice shop experience with a menu of "Neapolitan-style" round pies and "Original SOHO Square" pizzas, including their iconic Spicy Spring with fra diavolo sauce, fresh mozzarella, spicy cupping pepperoni and Pecorino Romano cheese. Like the Los Angeles location, there will also be a small selection of salads, sauces to-go. and bundled family meals.

Although no opening date has been announced, Prince Street Pizza is expected to unveil in mid-to-late 2022 at 415 Market Street in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. For more information, visit eatprincestreetpizza.com.
