Pizza Port Brewing Company Opens New Tasting Room In San Diego's North County

April 17, 2024

San Diego's Pizza Port Brewing Company is opening a new tasting room in San Diego's North County.

Founded in San Diego's North County community of Solana Beach in March 1987 by brother and sister Vince & Gina Marsaglia, Pizza Port initially focused on the food side of business while tinkering with home brewing in the restaurant's storage area. It wasn't until 1992 that the eatery offered its first house-brewed craft beers, and today, the brewery component of Pizza Port has won over 91 awards and is regarded as one of San Diego's leading breweries.

Pizza Port expanded to a second location with the opening of the Carlsbad outpost in 1997 and hasn't stopped since, opening in San Clemente in 2003, in Ocean Beach in 2010 and in Bressi Ranch in 2013. In 2006, Pizza Port founders took over Stone Brewing's old brewhouse in San Marcos for the launch of The Lost Abbey, an Old-World-style craft brewery that has garnered a significant reputation over the years. The 6th Pizza Port branch opened in summer 2022 in San Diego's South County community of Imperial Beach. Another branch opened last month within Belmont Park in Mission Beach.
This week, Pizza Port will open a tasting room in San Marcos at the former The Lost Abbey brewery space, which the company took over last year. This is the first tasting for Pizza Port, as all their other locations include a full restaurant component. The 660 square-foot tasting room will offer Pizza Port brews from eight taps, as well as cans, and a surf-inspired decor with views of the production facility. Food will eventually be provided from onsite pop-ups and eventually a permanent Pizza Port food truck.

Pizza Port will open its tasting room on April 19 at 155 Mata Way, Suite 104, in San Diego's North County city of San Marcos. For more information, visit pizzaport.com.
