Replacing the short-lived Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, Mastro’s occupies the same sprawling, two-level space on the Embarcadero, directly beneath the InterContinental Hotel. With dramatic coastal views and a design that blends refined elegance with ocean-inspired warmth, the new restaurant caters to locals and visitors seeking a high-end culinary experience steps from the waterfront.
Executive Chef Jennifer Jones oversees the kitchen, delivering Mastro’s signature menu of USDA Prime wet-aged steaks, seafood towers, and sushi curated by Chef Angel Carbajal of Nick-San in Cabo San Lucas. Signature appetizers include caviar-topped oysters, A5 Wagyu beef carpaccio, jumbo lump crab cakes, and Nueske’s maple glazed bacon steak. The expansive sushi menu features dishes like crispy garlic bigeye tuna sashimi and a clear lobster roll.
The steak selection is among the most diverse in the region, with 13 different cuts including dry-aged Kansas City strip, bone-in ribeye, and Japanese A5 and Australian Wagyu tomahawk chops. Seafood offerings range from sautéed sea scallops to herb-roasted branzino, Chilean sea bass, and jerk-spiced mahi mahi. Accompaniments elevate the meal with indulgent sides such as lobster mashed potatoes, white cheddar lobster mac & cheese, caviar twice baked potatoes, wild mushroom and black truffle gnocchi, and garlic truffle cauliflower.
The bar program is equally ambitious. Mastro’s boasts over 50 wines by the glass, more than 500 spirits, and specialty cocktails like its signature Cosmo martini. The Piano Lounge features live entertainment nightly, providing a sophisticated backdrop for guests enjoying drinks before or after dinner.
Designed with an emphasis on ambiance, the restaurant features an outdoor terrace, intimate lounge areas, and five private dining rooms. Coastal-inspired décor, warm earth tones, and soft lighting reflect the venue’s waterfront setting and elevate the overall guest experience.
Mastro’s Ocean Club is now open at 901 Bayfront Court, Suite 105, in Downtown San Diego. For more information, visit mastrosrestaurants.com.
