San Diego Restaurants Ordered Closed This Week (July 4 - July 10) By County Health Department

This is the weekly list of San Diego County restaurants and food facilities that have faced temporary closures and downgraded status due to health inspections from July 4-10, 2025.

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality performs thousands of inspections annually to ensure that food establishments adhere to necessary safety standards. When inspectors identify critical violations, they issue closure notices, mandating that businesses resolve the issues before they can reopen, as well as reduce the health grade of some establishments. 

Below, we outline the recent week's closures and downgrades and the specific violation list for each as reported by the health inspectors.

CLOSURES:

Filippis Pizza Grotto (9969 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92131) - Ordered closed on July 7 for Vermin - Major and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance.

Taste of Hunan (9880 Hibert St, Suite E2, San Diego, CA 92131) - Ordered closed on July 7 for Proper Cooling - Major; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Vermin - Major; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Parakeet Juicery (935 - 937 Silverado St, La Jolla, CA 92037) - Ordered closed on July 8 for Holding Temperatures - Major; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Hot and Cold Water - Minor; Vermin - Major; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; and Ventilation and Lighting - Out of Compliance.

Parakeet Cafe (927 Silverado St, La Jolla, CA 92037) - Ordered closed on July 8 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Major; Vermin - Major; Warewashing Facilities Maintained - Out of Compliance; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Meshuggah Shack (4048 Goldfinch St, San Diego, CA 92103) - Ordered closed on July 9 for Hot and Cold Water - Major.

Yogurt on the Rocks (1886 Garnet Ave, San Diego, CA 92109) - Ordered closed on July 9 for Vermin - Major.

DOWNGRADES:

Bruno's Market (2988 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92102) - Downgraded to a B with 80 score on July 7 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Food Handler Training - Minor; Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Minor; Food in Good Condition, Safe and Unadulterated - Major; Sewage disposal - Major; Vermin - Minor; Food Storage - Out of Compliance; and Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance.
