The 5,000-square-foot Oceanside unit is just steps from the city’s iconic pier, placing Biergarden at the center of the North County city’s booming restaurant and bar scene. Much like its Encinitas counterpart, the new location will focus on fostering the communal spirit of a modern beer hall - a place designed for friends and families to linger over craft beer and casual food in a lively setting.
Bier Garden was created by local restaurateur David Creviston, who also co-owns Corner Drafthouse in Bankers Hill. The Encinitas location, which opened during the 2013 street fair season, established itself with a California Coastal menu, 24 taps pouring only Southern California beers, and a design that blended retro touches with recycled materials. Popular dishes have included halibut tacos, braised short rib sandwiches, and short rib nachos with mango.
The Encinitas space features seating for nearly 140 guests, a full bar with craft cocktails, and a distinct tree centerpiece built from jungle vines. Its combination of beer-forward hospitality and creative yet approachable food has made Bier Garden a mainstay in North County dining for over a decade.

According to public records, the Oceanside location has applied for a Type 47 liquor license, which will allow the venue to serve a full range of spirits in addition to beer and wine. This indicates the new space will lean into a full bar program, broadening its offerings beyond craft beer alone.
While details of the Oceanside menu and tap list have not yet been released, the concept is expected to build on that same blend of community, local beer, and casual fare. The move also reflects a wave of new hospitality investment in Oceanside, where restaurants and hotels have transformed the city into a dining destination.
The incoming Bier Garden marks the end of The Lab Collaborative’s run in the Pierside North development. Opened in January 2022 by industry veterans Jack Everett and chef Ramiro Guerra, TLC combined a restaurant, bar, coffeehouse, and food truck into a single experimental venue. Known for inventive cocktails, Jet Fuel Coffee, and globally inspired fare like bourbon tamarind pork belly and red wine–braised beef cheeks, the project sought to provide a creative hub for chefs and bartenders but now appears set to make way for Bier Garden’s expansion.

With Bier Garden preparing to bring its well-established North County identity into Oceanside, locals can expect a bustling beer hall atmosphere just steps from the waterfront — and another sign of the city’s rapid culinary growth.
Bier Garden is expected to open by year's end at 201 N. Cleveland Street, Suite 109, in San Diego's North County city of Oceanside. For more information, visit biergardenencinitas.com.
